Halfords 14 Litre Electric Coolbox is rated out of 5 by 7.Rated 5 out of 5 by Jonbiker from Good product I really like this product. It's not too noisy, you soon get used to the background hum. One thing - it's not controllable - it's on or off - and gets very cold - including freezing a bottle of coke! This means that it can be turned off for a while - which is no bad thing I suppose.Date published: 2017-10-02Rated 5 out of 5 by Buch from Cooler This is a very good cooler in fact it is more like a fridge itsthat good i would recommend it no problem The staff where really good Thank you.Date published: 2017-09-22Rated 2 out of 5 by JJ52 from OK if you can keep it plugged in This is a neat looking coolbox but was not suitable for my purposes. It lacks insulation and so warms up quickly if you cannot keep it plugged in. The fan is quite noisy too and may disturb you if you are a light sleeper. The box comes with a 3 pin plug, but (even though it is advertised as keeping all your refreshments cool on a journey) you will need to purchase an adapter to run it in a vehicle (which costs an extra £15).Date published: 2017-09-19Rated 5 out of 5 by JustThe2OfUs from Perfect I bought this for camping trips and it's been perfect. Keeps good and drink very cold and is very quiet. I'd previously bought a similar product from Argos which was useless. This one I'd recommend to anyone.Date published: 2017-08-22Rated 2 out of 5 by Ant38 from Cold but loud Bought this Halfords 14 litre Electric Coolbox as a stop gap to keep milk cold and a few other items in kitchen, until new fridge arrived. Also planned to use it in my campervan, and to go camping with in a tent with access to a hook up. It worked well enough in that it got cold, usually keeping under 5C without issue, usually around 2C to 4C, After a couple of days on, the fan part iced up too much and wouldnt stay as cold as well. But after unpluging it, it defrosted quickly, in about 2 hours or so, and was ready to use again, after wiping up the defrosed ice water. The major problem with it is it's fan noise. It's really loud. Probably similar sort of volume as a desk top fan noise level. This noise level would be OK if driving in the car, as noise from car etc would help drown it out, and if unit was in the boot also. But you couldn't use this in a tent, or campervan not moving, as the noise is way too loud, and would annoy everyone on the campsite, not too mention driving you nuts.. I actually thought about changing its fan to a quite fan, but thought that might be too much hassle, and no guarantee to work. There is also a whooshing noise where the air is coming out its vent. Though this noise isent as bad as the fan noise, and I could probably have lived with just that noise. But the fan noise was too much for me. Thankfully Halfords took it back for a refund without any problem. I think I would need a different type of coolbox if to buy one again. Think the more expensive but quieter compressor designed travel fridges would suit my needs better. So this would be good if only using it while driving in car. But not much use for camping or in a campervan. And it was loud in my kitchen too, through to other rooms in house.. If it was made with a quiet fan I would have given it 5 stars, but only giving it 2 stars based on noise level..Date published: 2017-07-31Rated 5 out of 5 by littlefrenchrose from Very efficient Just driven down through France at 30+ heat and the clotted cream from Cornwall kept perfectly for 48 hours ! Water bottles cooled down really quickly. The fan was only air-conditioning noise level so not really audible when driving. Only very slight criticism is that the power lead could be a little longer as if you dont have a 12v socket in the back, it is a stretch to the front one.Date published: 2017-07-05Rated 5 out of 5 by HampshireMum18 from Excellent purchase A fantastic coolbox to use in the car on long journeys. We used freezer packs in it to keep things cool on a very hot day and it worked fantastically.Date published: 2017-06-23
