Rated 4 out of 5 by 14 reviewers.Rated 5 out of 5 by gottenwhee14 strong, durable and easy. I have had these on my mtb for over a year now. They are good brakes I haven't needed to replace the brakes yet. I have only had to tune them once in a while. I originally had problems mounting them on my mtb as the rotor was to big but it wasnt to big of a problem I brought some long bolts and used my old v break spacers to stack the height I needed.note this You need to make sure the calliper alignment is correct otherwise you will get a decrease in speed and uneven wear of the brake pads and they will wear out very quickly. In the year and so many months I have had these breaks I have been on and off road these brakes have done very well for the price. I have had no issues with braking performance in any weather and I have stopped when needed even in close call situations on and off road. These are easy to maintain and they keep the dirt out well. The brake pads are magnetic and are still showing no signs of wear and have road thousands of miles as I use my mtb for everything all year round. These brakes will not fail you at all no matter how fast you go these have stopped me in a speed test from 40mph downhill and they did very well. These breaks dont over heat like hydraulic brakes and you dont have to do a chemistry lesson to have them run correctly. If you are new to disc brakes I will recommend starting with these as one they are cheap and also to reassure you want to stick with disc breaks. Then later its upto yoy if you want to upgrade. I personally prefer these as they are cheaper to maintain, durable, quiet, good braking performance in all weather, the breake pads last a long time, use a standard brake cable, no overheating issues like hydraulic brakes have and no chemistry lessons for correct use. I recommend these brakes its upto you if you fall for the hype. 09 June 2015Rated 1 out of 5 by rocket72 cmd8 got both front and rear to replace my v brakes easy to set up cheap and on the road great.however take them off road and you take your life in your hands,in the forest on extreme and moderate trails might as well have thrown them in the bin 17 May 2014Rated 4 out of 5 by 4whatitsworth Clarks CMD8 Mechanical Front Disc Brake Bought to replace existing defunct front disc brake. This one not quite as effective as the old but works sufficiently well to feel safe & usable in all weather conditions. Cannot comment on the longevity of the shoes as only been using for a short while. Very easy to fit & adjust; less than 1/2 hour. 02 February 2014Rated 5 out of 5 by ryannd amazing these brake are probably the best brakes i have had in a while so goo the are better than my old avid brake l. i am please with this item and recommend you buy 13 January 2014Rated 5 out of 5 by bucklord Brakes I purchased the items on line and reserved them at my local store, the next day they were ready to collect or I could have waited a few more days, when I went in spoke to the staff and within 2 mins I had paid and left the store 07 December 2013Rated 4 out of 5 by Jnrbailey For the price this product is spot on To say is only cheap was easy to install and set up and works really well. I have no issues with this product at all 26 November 2013Rated 4 out of 5 by Snake1 reasonable performance on a budge Nice and straightforward replacement for the original old calliper. 31 March 2013Rated 3 out of 5 by Oranoco Cheap n cheerful, sort of works Purchased for my girlfriends Scott due to the original not working at all. The Clarks CMD8 looked like a cheap temporary fix to get her back on the trails. Quality of product was ok and fitting didn't take long. First spin of the wheel revealed a notable amount of run out. Took the bike for a quick whizz round the garden only to find the performance was only marginally better than the one removed. Have spent some time bedding it in (about 20miles) and it has improved but the performance is still far lower than that of my old V-brakes. Performing an endo won't be happening again aytime soon. As a cheap n cheerful temp fix it's ok. For a permanent solution buy something else. 25 October 2012
