Rated 2.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.Rated 4 out of 5 by redcoatonline Impressed Let me start by saying that you need to set your expectations appropriately: this is on the lower end of the range in the e-bike world, and not comparable to the Bosch or Yamaha bikes (which I have also used). This bike is powered by a rear 250W hub motor, and that is fine in most situations: flats at good speed, modest hill climbs OK but you will still need to put in some effort. If you live somewhere very hilly, probably this bike will struggle. Pros: Great frame: concealed but easily accessible battery in the frame (has a drop-in connector and external charging socket). 250W is plenty of power for me (73kg male + luggage + 18mo baby on seat). Flat speed of 17-18mph is a breeze. Acceleration is nice and smooth (but noisy, see cons) Motor does not stop at 15mph, but starts to tail off there, so it doesn't 'pulse'. Good front suspension, nice comfortable ride for me (5'11"). Front light wired into main battery (no need for extra battery) Good battery life. I have actually managed about 40 miles in PAS 5, doing a good speed the whole time. Exceeded my expectation. Very quiet at low PAS levels, and when you're cruising near the top speed. Cons: The manufacturer setup was terrible. Brake alignment wrong, gears wrong, wheels loose, front light not connected properly, front mud guard rubbing on wheel. Sorted with minimal effort, but should be done already. No throttle control unless PAS is selected, and only at the selected PAS power, e.g. you have bike in PAS level 2 (of 5), the throttle won't give you all 250W, but it will if you are in PAS 5. Heavy (23Kg). To be expected with this frame type, but there are lighter bikes. Poor quality shifter (shimano tourney TX50). It's squeaky and I'll replace it soon. A bit noisy when you're accelerating at high PAS levels (think milk float noise). Very basic controller (PAS level, battery level, lights on/off). No speed display, power display, etc. Separate rear light (not powered by bike battery) Overall I'm impressed with the value for money (when you consider that the battery alone costs £400). It lets me commute to work every day, and after the initial setup niggles, it hasn't been any trouble at all. Dissapointingly the sheer weight of the bike seems to cause the spokes to frequently break, making the bike unusable. According to forums this is common fault of electric bikes, please do your homework before purchasing. 08 May 20161-2 of 2
