Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 70 reviewers.Rated 5 out of 5 by Ashley111 Bobby at New Malden Bobby was fantastic at delivering great customer service. My bike is great and I thank him for all his help. 30 June 2016Rated 4 out of 5 by fgaine A good entry level bike. It is very light and looks gorgeous. But as another reviewer wrote, it is a shame that the paintwork is so fragile as the cables leave marks on the frame and small chocks will chip the paint. The bad is that after barely a year and 1200 miles of commutes the cassette, chain, and bottom bracket all need changing. That will cost me £80 which is nearly a quarter of the bike's price. I really did expect better components from a Boardman. 09 May 2016Rated 2 out of 5 by Alex1367 Good quality apart from gears!! I was happy with my recent purchase of this bike for my commute for work. Although a light and efficient bike, the gears are a big let down!! Having bought this bike yesterday, I was expecting everything to run smoothly, however the bike does not change up or down on the chainring (large gears); simply making a lot of noise trying. To make this worse the chain has often fallen off, jamming in the frame and causing me to take a couple of tumbles. I will not be waiting the 6 weeks before the free check up. Without the gear problems, this bike would be a good purchase however instead I am slightly nervous in using it. 23 February 2016Rated 4 out of 5 by Chris2057 Good bike, accessories of limited quality Good bike overall Compact (double) chainring is a good option for the city; the cassette has some large sprockets so you can climb hills even when the chain is on the large chainring. Drive train, is of medium-poor quality, need to see how long it last and what sort of regular maintenance it will need. Poorest quality parts are the saddle and the handlebar, this negatively impacts comfort. A good option on the stem: you can set the handlebar at different heights. Overall this is a good bike. Fit some larger tyres and you can go on trails. Fit a drop down handlebar and you have a good fitness bike. 18 March 2016Rated 3 out of 5 by JCorbs Average all-rounder I bought this Boardman Hybrid Sport Bike in April 2015 to get back into cycling. I thought that I would spend most of my time on tracks and paths but I trained for a sportive on the roads and the bike handled this well. I would go for a road bike though if long rides are your thing. The bike weighs 12.4kgs which is quite heavy considering some road bikes can be 7kgs. What is concerning me now though is the brakes have completely faded away as winter came. I am currently having to service them and I may replace them with a different brand. I suspect the pads have worn but I remember when I bought the bike I had to ask the Halfords mechanic to sharpen them up. They have always felt spongy. I think the brakes are the weakest point of this bike and brakes are very important. The rest of the bike is okay. The gears are good and I have had no problems with them and I don't expect to. The chain needs regular cleaning and oiling as with any other bike. The saddle is a bit hard without cycling shorts. The handle grips are good with gloves. The frame shows some rubbing from the brake cables and seems to easily scratch. The puncture resistant tyres are good and I have only had one puncture (a sharp thorn) with minimal wear. Overall I would say this is about average as it can't compete with a good road bike on roads and a mountain bike can be used on tracks and paths but then that is the compromise with hybrids. I can get about 16mph average on this bike on a good day. 05 January 2016Rated 2 out of 5 by Badwolf2016 Only good on completely flat surfaces After a lot of research, I decided to plump for the boardman Sport, as everyone says that you don't need mountain bikes, after riding this has to be the worst bike EVER for any road that is not 100% flat, even a slight raise which separates footpath from cycle path can be felt all the way through me,gears are taking bit to get used to, as was used to grip, Yes, it's light, speed is ok,but that's about the only highlight,my advice buy something else 30 December 2015Rated 5 out of 5 by lyla Very good product Very happy from bike. Special was on offer. I will enjoy during the summer even more. 01 February 2016Rated 4 out of 5 by Tors2 Bikes for Christmas Your staff in Chippenham, Oxford and Leith, Edinburgh were all so helpful as I bought bikes for my two student daughters. The Boardman is going well in the Edinburgh January weather. Thank you. 25 January 2016
