Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 59 reviewers.Rated 1 out of 5 by Grant22 Unreliable Not had the bike a year. Bought it on offer as it looked a great deal. Bought it got it home and the disc was warped. Was told the pads would straighten it. Took it back got it fixed in store. It ran well for a while and then the brakes started to stick so back to store to get that sorted. Ran OK last time out however gone to get it out before our holiday and the thing is siezed again. It's been used about 6 times since new only on flat walking trails and each time there has been a problem. My partners bike runs as good as when it was new never a problem. Where as this is like having a classic car you must start fettling a good three days before you even think of heading out. 04 June 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by Fruitymonkey Great bike Purchased back in 2014 so now owned for 2 years . Overall I'm very with the boardman Bike has a nice solid feel to it and rides over almost everything in its way , tyres have good grip and to date haven't failed but they can be a little loud when not off road ,and get clogged up with mud in heavy rain, Gear changing is done without slip or jumps and has covered 3000 miles without fault, could do with higher gearing, 1st is insanely low and never been anywhere where it's needed , top gear could do with 11t rather than the 12t it comes with , reason for that is flat out its only about 23mph . I would recommend boardman to anyone so much so I've just ordered my second one today 10 May 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by Chickenlips 9 years without a bike wow Brought this bike yesterday from the halfords store in cumbernauld, been looking for a while for new wheels ,ok it's a old model but it didn't bother me the team at the store looked after me and was so helpful andy, derick sorted me out with the bike got it setup in know time. I chose this bike cus it is old model/stock 2014 model at a good price I've been out on the trail today trying it out so much fun lol the bike wanted more time out on the tail but 9 years away for the action dud show lol I'm not as fit as I thought it will be a fun summer hitting the hills and trails in Scotland 05 April 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by FastFreddy 1st Proper MTB Spent months trying to make my mind up about which bike to buy. Finally, the decision was made by an excellent offer for an of 2015 model year model, which saw the the price reduce by £250. This I reasoned was where I wanted to be having read review after review that a £500-£600 would buy a good bike, and spending £000's wouldn't necessarily get you a bike so very much better, just a bit lighter and possibly not as strong. The Boardman is beautifully designed and made, although the saddle broke due to a bolt not having been torque set correctly at factory, which Halfords quickly fixed for me. The bike took me time to adjust as it's much more sensitive to rider input, which I hadn't appreciated or considered. It seems capable and I am enjoying riding the trials much more. 19 February 2016Rated 4 out of 5 by Seeon I'm happy with it. This is my second MTB. I had the 2012 Voodoo Hoodoo before (I still have it and will use it as a spare). I bought this as I felt the need for a 2nd bike when it took be 10 days to replace the middle chain ring, cassette and chain on the Hoodoo. I can't speak for durability as it has only been used twice off road, but in terms of direct comparison with the Hoodoo, the brakes are much sharper, I prefer the riding position marginally and it generally feels better down hill. However, I slightly prefer the cornering with 26'' wheels. Again marginal. I can climb better with the Hoodoo, but suspect that is just because I know the gears better. Truthfully, in terms of ride, they're much the same. Negatives: I actually prefer the hoodoo tires. The ones on the Boardman seem to glue to sticky clay mud, but they do grip better. The seat is apt to slip down over the course of a couple of hours hard riding, which is a minor annoyance too. Think I'll try scratching the seat post to fix this. Anyway, I really like it. I'm sure when I get used to new gearing I'll be doing better times then on the Hoodoo. 09 February 2016Rated 4 out of 5 by Danny91 Good all rounder for all types of cycling at non competitive levels. Only bike worth recommending from halfords Having test ridden the majority of bikes on offer from Halfords, this is the only bike I would recommend. I have mounted over 7000km accross Europe on this bike. It performs well on roads, cross country, and downhill With its standard equipment. It is lightweight, responsive, nice to handle (supprising with the 27.5 inch wheels). Although the price is attractive, avoid using it for heavy courses due to is specs. Although they are very good, they are certainly Not race class. If you have the ability and know how, then it is recommended to invest in upgrading the brake system and front/rear mechs to a higher grade along with the tyres. I stayed with SRAM and was my disappointment. I would however avoid using Halfords for upgrades, they do have very well trained and experienced technicians and enthusiasts, but their quality is few and far between. Throughout the HUGE undertaking I gave this bike I was very impressed, the frame withstood a lot, damage was minimal however I would note that bolts that come as standard (brake calumets etc) have a tendency to rust. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable bike and a steal at its price. Would recommend. 09 December 2015Rated 5 out of 5 by Hills4me Happy times No negatives at all this bike performs well in every aspect of my riding on/off-road big improvement from my Kona looks great and the service from halford has been excellent 01 December 2015Rated 5 out of 5 by Cush71 Great Value A great all round bike , as a beginner I did not want to spend £1000's on a bike, so I was looking for a mid range bike with good reviews, I don't feel let down, as soon as I started to ride it, it felt great. Tuns well on the 27.5 rims and the brakes are sharp and precise, I can't wait to go out again 04 November 2015
