Rated 5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.Rated 5 out of 5 by Magnum20GW Fantastic folder I am writing this review after using the bike for just 24 hours but I'd be very surprised if my opinion changed over time. I was on the point of buying a Brompton when I saw this for sale in Halfords with a good weekend discount available. I was struck by its very attractive appearance and the quality of the components - Brooks leather saddle, Schwalbe tyres, brushed aluminium frame, wheels and that lovely brushed aluminium frame, among other things. The nine speed gears were also an attractive feature. I cycled it round the store before buying it and was surprised at how stable it was. I took a chance and bought it and put it through its paces yesterday, on a ten mile ride over mixed terrain, including a rough track alongside a golf course and a grass surface. To cut a long story short it passed the test with flying (literally!) colours. It was a very smooth and comfortable ride over all surfaces and boy is it fast. I had a race round a park and easily achieved over 20 mph. With the small (but not too small) wheels it is highly maneuverable too. The good range of gears helps too. The folding mechanism is very straightforward too and once you get the hang of it it takes less than a minute. Oh and it also comes with a bag and saddle pouch for storing it in. The weight is low (27 lbs) considering the components, about the same as a similarly specced Brompton. However, it comes in at £300 less than such a Brompton, even if you have to pay the full price of £899. I'd venture to say that is a better bike than a Brompton, certainly in terms of its ride and performance. In short I'd highly recommend this bike. 12 September 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by Doisalung Unique Beast of a bike This bike is class. I got it as I wanted a folder I wouldn't have to leave outside for safety reasons mainly. I was concerned it would not be as fast going downhill or would be difficult going up hill but I was wrong. I can keep up with any lycra clad road bike on this and cycling uphill is really easy with the 9 gears. I have raced friends on road bikes and won, you may need to pedal a little more than on a bike with 27 gears but you will go just as fast and it is much more 'nippy' and fun to drive. Free wheeling on this bike is ridiculous, a friend and I did it on flat ground and I was rolling for like 2 and a half minutes, whereas they stopped in 45 seconds. The tyres feel really slick on the ground and the puncture proofs lasted me 5 months before I got a puncture, I live in Belfast and there is so much glass on the roads but this has well and truly stood the test of time 3x punctures in a year at £6 each isn't bad at all. Bumpy roads can be a bit ...well bumpy but it's only if you've been on a mtn bike immediately prior that you would notice it. On smooth concrete you can feel like your gliding. The bike looks amazing. I have had it a year and it still turns heads. You rarely see silver bikes and the chainset, handle bars and overall quality just looks class. In my work bike shed everyone has a new bike, road bikes, mountain bikes, even other folders, these are expensive bikes but nothing looks as good as this in my opinion. Kids and adults alike are always being overheard saying 'look at that mans bike' it looks like the best bike I have ever seen and I constantly judge other peoples bikes because of this LOL. Other cyclists also admire it and will ask questions at traffic lights. I have seen one other bike like this in Belfast and it was the cheaper 1606 which has 2 less gears and no brooks saddle plus a different chainset. You can bring the seat down and make it look like a BMX and adjust the height if you want an easier cycle. This bike has paid for itself in just under a year with my £15 a week travel expenses and occasional trip into town not only now free, but a lot more enjoyable than sitting on a bus/taxi or waiting for a lift. Cycling around town on this is very enjoyable, even in pedestrianised areas. The bike is small enough and has a very tight rotation that it is a cruise mobile and doesn't get any disapproving looks/get in peoples ways. Folding is brilliant. You can leave it under your desk at work. Stick it in the boot of a car or put the bag over it and carry it on your shoulder. There is a handy grip bar to carry the 12kg up stairs. The only thing negative people said about this bike was the price but you can sell the brooks saddle if you want (£100) but don't because it looks amazing and although it is hard it is surprisingly comfortable. The bike looks expensive and feels class to drive. Look at the savings over a year if you are hesitant. This bike will last me years and when I upgrade I will get another bickerton. I wouldn't recommend this for off road usage as it can shake a bit and the tyres are so slick that you can slide off. Don't get me wrong, I cycled about the bmw course like a mooncat but I was more concerned about damaging the bike than enjoying the sick jumps. Sorry for the essay but I want others to buy this if I can. PS. I mailed bickerton on facebook with a query and Mark Bickerton (the owner and creator) messaged me back immediately. I thought it was a really nice touch. 12 August 20161-2 of 2
