Boardman Hybrid Comp Bike 2016 is rated out of 5 by 62.Rated 5 out of 5 by TD283 from A really good intermediate bike I admit to buying last years model as it was reduced but I would have bought this year's if they hadn't had any left. In years gone by I have raced on both road and mountain bikes but I wanted something more based around general health and enjoyment. I looked at several options on the market and was pleasantly surprised at what you got for your money with this Boardman bike. Apart from the front mech the chainset is all of a reasonable entry standard. Yes i had some teething problems with the set up but they were quickly resolved by the staff and I was extremely pleased with the end set up. I have ridden it for around 60 miles now and am delighted. It's light weight and the range of gears has meant I haven't had to stand up yet to crest any hills, and there are some beauties in this part of Dorset. The upright seating position suits me, and my back, and I have found it to be comfortable over 20 mile rides. I did change the pedals to clip in ones straight away so can't say how good the originals are but they looked a bit tacky. Overall I think this is a super bike for the money and would recommend anyone who wants a good recreational or commuting bike.Date published: 2017-08-03Rated 4 out of 5 by Deno400 from Looks good but has some niggles I am 68 years old and wanted something to replace my Raleigh Richmond which has quite a bit of rust on the frame. I wanted a modern road bike with an upright sitting position and good brakes. Having looked at all the options this model appealed most and when there was a promotional discount I decide to buy. I found the seat uncomfortable (which I expected), but also found the handlebars to low and far forward causing a lot of pressure on the hands and wrist, this also causes neck strain. These comments might only apply to an older person. I have since changed the seat and handlebars and it feels much better. The gears are reasonable but hesitant when changing to the higher gears, I guess this might improve with use.Date published: 2017-08-03Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from A smooth ride Very easy and comfortable to ride. First new bike in a while and very impressedDate published: 2017-07-27Rated 4 out of 5 by stanfield81 from Amazing Bike Travelled 2 miles tonight, got there in no time Adrenaline is through the roof Bit solid, bumpy ride - bit it's a road bike with flat bars Would recommend - can't wait to do a long journey I work for Halfords, and I've never owned a Boardman product. This one is the dogs. I'd love to know what one if their £2,000 bikes are like!!Date published: 2017-07-15Rated 5 out of 5 by GazWinter from Loving my new bike I bought this to replace my 20 year old mountain bike which i'd been using for my work commute. The difference that it's made in my times on Strava is incredible. Very very happy with this bike. The only issue I have is trying to get used to strapping my feet in to the peddles, I am tempted to remove the straps completely.Date published: 2017-05-23Rated 4 out of 5 by Foggyphotos from great all rounder Great frame feels lovely and responsive without being overly stiff, responds well to inputs from the handlebars and quick off the mark, slightly under geared and the front mech grinds but this will be easily remedied with a new one. Disk brakes lack a bit of bite initially but this is just personal preference. I like them to be very sharp other people hate this. Handlebar grips are too thin for me but can easily be fixed. Overall feels very nice and the welding on the frame looks great, very pleased with the bike as a run around and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quick commute and everyday bike.Date published: 2017-05-15Rated 4 out of 5 by Webfreeby101 from Best Hybrid I have ridden Really good bike, nice to ride and look at. Quick on the flat and pretty good on hills as well. Unfortunately the small gripes what dont get it a five are as follows, the pedals which are cheap and plastic and the handlebar grips which hurt my hands even with gloves after a few miles. Asides from that, cant fault it. Hopefully will last a good few years.Date published: 2017-04-24Rated 4 out of 5 by CaptainDangerous from Nice Recreational Bike I found the overall build quality is excellent, although can't understand why it comes with cheap peddles, I gather they believe the purchaser will invest in proper pedals. It was easy to assemble. I have done some 50 miles on it and the gear changes were very slick, no adjustments necessary. The brakes are very capable. I find the seats a bit hard for me, but again an easy mod. The bike eats up the miles compared to my MBX on the flat sections, The gears ratios are very good, but where I live is very hilly so I would have preferred a slightly lower ratios, but not enough to bother changing the stock set-up. Overall very pleased with it.Date published: 2017-04-20
