Wiggins Macon Kids Bike - 16" Wheel is rated out of 5 by 33.Rated 5 out of 5 by stard3 from 4th Birthday present There is some conflicting info on recommended height (age) for 16" wheel bikes. Halfords say the age range for the Wiggins Macon Kids bike is 5 to 8 years old, however, another popular online bike shop say that a 16" bike is suitable for a 4 year old. I wanted this bike for my sons 4th birthday and despite the recommendations on halfords website i decided to buy it. On his 4th birthday my son was 102.5cms tall and i would say after watching him ride it, he is just big enough for this bike with the saddle as low as possible and with plenty of room to grow into it too. So thats 10cms smaller than halfords recommend but i think its perfect for him. The bike itself is great, and not to complicated to set up. If you get it delivered to home you have to put front wheels on, set up front brake, fit stabilisers, tighten handlebars and set seat height. The geometry of the bike is great and its just like riding a 'proper' bike, unlike some of the gimmicky bikes sold. Its gear ratio is good and the bike is very easy to ride and move around. I bought the bike with stabilisers and the bike has purpose placed threaded holes for the stabilisers. My 4 year old loves this bike and for the 1st time i've been able to ride along side him rather than walk beside him!Date published: 2017-10-05Rated 5 out of 5 by Bella82 from Amazing You cannot fault this Bike. Our son has struggled with pedals & stabilisers so he stuck to his balance bike. I had this Wiggins bike recommended to me and we had a look in the shop at it. It's nice & light which was a plus point for us. It looks good & my son loved the colours. The saddle is very easy to adjust (no tools required) We decided to buy it for our sons 5th birthday present. We got it built for free. We took our son to the park & I held the back of the seat & he started peddling - I let go & off he went! There was no stopping him! Within an hour he was starting himself off & using the brakes to stop & then starting again. We can't recommend this bike highly enough!Date published: 2017-09-09Rated 4 out of 5 by Stewmac1 from Ideal first real bike. Picked for lightness . Great first bike with low gearing so no problems getting up inclines. Like more expensive makes seems designed for children's hands making it easy to operate the brakes. Basically if you want a first real colds bike look no further.Date published: 2017-08-20Rated 5 out of 5 by gggwww from Well made & light weight Would recommend - bought one for my 6yr old and was so impressed I bought one for my 4yr old. Both can easily manoeuvre the bikesDate published: 2017-08-09Rated 5 out of 5 by Samtp from Cracking bike Great bike bought for my sons 4th birthday. He is pretty tall and we were struggling to find a balance bike big enough that wasn't silly money. He had been riding his sisters balance bike for a month or two on the highest seat position. So plumped for this bike and have taken the pedals off until he gets used to it ( no stabilisers). He loves it and is whizzing about quite happily, even getting used to the brakes within one or two rides. Looks like he would be fine pedalling already, just got to persuade him that's the case.Date published: 2017-07-24Rated 5 out of 5 by SparkyS from Expensive but worth it Decided to go for this after reading some of the positive reviews, despite it being a bit extra money wise. However, I have been delighted with the bike, my 5 year old son loves it, and rode without stabilisers for the first time after only 2 goes on the bike. Very light weight but well built, I think this is an excellent purchase for any parent.Date published: 2017-07-18Rated 5 out of 5 by SJ5000 from Light, yet sturdy with nice detail My 5 yo girls loves bike. It's light, yet sturdy enough to go on the bmx trackDate published: 2017-07-03Rated 5 out of 5 by Cjdad76 from Excellent, lightweight starter bike Although this bike is more expensive than some similar sized models available from Halfords, it is well worth the extra cost. It is much lighter than other offerings, well set up for kids with small levers and has allowed my son to transition from just beginning to very capable in a couple of weeks.Date published: 2017-07-03
