ReviewsBoardman Mountain Bike Comp HT 650B 2014 39 39boardman 650b comp This bike is great if you are going down the shops or for a leisurly ride along the canal with the family. Take it anywhere near a muddy trail or rough terrain it feels like it is going to fall apart. I have had mine back to halfords twice since july. The bottom bracket had failed! They also swapped the pedals incase the horrendous clunk was coming from them. To be fair to halfords the service has been brilliant can't fault them. I am seriously dissapointed with this bike and i think boardman should stick to making road bikes. I have had the pleasure of riding a trek machine at a comparable price and it is far superior in every department except weight. DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE! 07 December 2014Boardman Mountain Bike Comp HT 650B 2014 This is my first bike since I was 16, I'm 56 now and love riding it. It does everything I want it to do and more. It's very easy to ride on the road, trail and off road, plus it looks good too. Best impulse buy I've made this year! 06 December 2014Great bike Great bike! Well made and fantastic value for money. Really comfortable. Definately one of the best brands for that price range. 02 December 2014Great bike with teething problems Amazing light bike. Handles really well on and off road.Very nimble with a positive feeling.......BUT, after 5 weeks steering and suspension problems, I stripped the headset down myself to find no grease what so ever on the bearings. Also excessive play between fork lowers and stanchions, halfords sent them off to be tf tuned and supplied an upgrade head set with sealed cartridge bearings. I dropped them off on the monday and they were ready to collect on the friday, now thats good service. All f.o.c on warranty. Thats when the bike transformed from great bike to amazing one. Im not the only person to complain about the dry headset bearings so it obviously needs addressing...INSIST ON THEM BEING CHECKED BEFORE YOU BUY 29 November 2014Boardman MTB comp HT 650b Fantastic quality and superb value for money in the entry level class. Super sharp hydraulic disc brakes make down hill stopping easy. Super slick gear changes and razor sharp handling make this bike a joy to ride. Defiantly the right choice no question!!! Highly recommended !!!! 12 November 2014Wish I had bought a VOODOO I bought this bike in October 2013, having considered a Carrerra Fury and Voodoo Hoodoo the staff at Halfords recommended the Boardman. Looking at the online reviews it seemed the obvious choice. After a month or so of cycling to work on normal roads my bike developed a rotational clicking sound when pedaling, this was found to be a loose bottom bracket, the bracket was tightened and all seemed fine. I had to return the bike again with the same fault after another couple of weeks and again this was tightened but after a couple weeks I had to return again with the same problem, this time the bottom bracket was replaced. Within two months the bike developed the same problem as before and I had absoloutely no confidence in the bike at all in terms of a long distance ride or any off road riding. This time Halfords replaced the bottom bracket with an upgraded Deore Hollow tech part and touch wood the bike is now fine. I think it is only reasonable to expect that any bike will need a tweak here and there when new but I expected better considering that these bikes are not cheap and I would not recommend this bike and really do wish I had bought a voodoo like my mates. 10 October 2014Components are of good quality.....paint-job, poor. On my 1st outing (20 mile) around the long Mynd, Shropshire, chain came off twice leaving deep scratches in paint-work under bottom-bracket and on pedal stem ,Set-up on derailier not carried out properly (limit screw) allowing chain to slip off crank. Brakes....Great. Suspension.....Great. Gear change....Great. The rear brake-cable and derailier cables rest on the shoulder of the front suspension arms, I was amazed to see that, even only after only a 20 mile ride, that the vibration of the cables had caused the paint to wear through to the alloy frame.....Gutted ! 06 October 2014Boardman comp ht Spent a lot of time reading reviews on this bike some good and some not so good, I have rode about 100 miles in two weeks and have had no problems, fantastic bike for the price no regrets at all ;@) 15 September 2014
