Boardman Mountain Bike Team Full Suspension 27.5" - 16", 18", 20" Frames is rated out of 5 by 51.Rated 5 out of 5 by Scholey from Great bike , pleased I decided to give Boardman a go . Overall I have been mountain biking for over 10 years , and although I was a bit of a badge snob (previous bikes including a Scott & a Cube) I can honestly I am impressed with the boardman bike .The most important thing on a bike is the frame and suspension and looking on a similar bike you would be paying £1500 plus for the same tackle on a Trek , Giant etc . The look of the bike is good , the forks and brakes responsive and the gears do the job they are supposed to do although next time I might prefer the boardman with the single front derailler. The only odd thing I have with the bike is that it doesn't come with a component list . I like to do my own maintenance but don't know how I am going to go on buying replacement parts for it ?Date published: 2018-04-06Rated 5 out of 5 by Petej27 from Very happy - bar a few niggles I'd been looking for a full susser for a while having been riding an old VooDoo Hoodoo for a while. I had my sights on a Calibre Bossnut for a long time, however the fact that I could only use cycle to work at Halfords (or a few independants) swayed my decision towards the Boardman. I'm 6 foot and opted for a size Large which I believe to be 19".The bike fits fine and service in ordering a bike in and purchasing was very quick and pain free. The bike is well specced and the frame is gorgeous with very smooth welds. I was slightly apprehensive at the SRAM gears with them not having triggers like Shimano equivalents, but soon got used to it. Internal dropper routing is a bonus too which I'm taking advantage of already. My first ride out on it was in the peak district in February, a very muddy day. I immediately realised that the Continental X-King tyres that come fitted as standard were not up to the task whatsoever. They roll nicely on the tarmac and grip OK in wet surfaces, but even the slightest amount of mud and the back end was skidding all over and the front end totally unresponsive. I've since upgraded these to Maxxis High Roller 2's but retained the x kings for summer. Also the stock handlebar grips are, in my opinion, too thin and my hands were aching after a few hours. - I have also ordered an upgrade for these since. The other note was that the saddle kept rotating slightly even though the bolts were tightened very tight - I've since upgraded to a dropper so this is no longer an issue either. All in all a great package, bar a few basic upgrades. that said, I'd rather the money was spent on the fundamentals such as frame and suspension and drivetrain than something that is easily upgradeable and subject to personal choice like tyres.Date published: 2018-03-05Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Fantastic Bike What a Bike!! Great value for the money! I have now had the bike for 15 months, i have upgraded a lot of the components other than the suspension which is standard. It has been to Glentress, Bike park Wales, absolutely everywhere! it been on Downhill trails and with stands it. I must have road around 2000 miles on this bike and its fantastic. Definitely the best for its price. Only thing would be nice to see 1x11 on it or a better set of brakes.Date published: 2018-01-14Rated 1 out of 5 by evan848 from Snapped frame I bearly rode my new boardman team fs and never tried to do anything big or difficult, however one day when I got my bike out to ride and my rear triangle was snapped next to my derailerDate published: 2017-12-22Rated 4 out of 5 by truckit from First 500 miles I've now owned my Boardman FS mountain bike for 3 months and have travelled 500 miles, mainly on dirt tracks. The bike handles all so far with ease. For the money this is a fantastic bike. After a quick wash and oil the bike comes up like new. The build from Halfords Andover was great, not one issue so far. I started my adventures weighing 18 stone which didn't seem to trouble the bike at all, very strong MB. I'm now just over 16 stone. So from a fitness point of view, just great. I've named my Boardman, Freedom, because that's how it makes me feel. If I had one small gripe, it would be make it a little lighter. Other than that, love it. 10 out of 10. JohnDate published: 2017-12-01Rated 5 out of 5 by Stevengsx from Bike looks good Bike looks good and has plenty of adjustment. Light weight compared to my old guru :)Date published: 2017-10-24Rated 5 out of 5 by UncleRico from Extremely capable trail bike at an Absolutely bargainous price Great frame with a well proven suspension design and modern trail geometry Quality well damped Rockshox suspension front and rear. Sram level brakes are superb. SRAM GX gear system is really great and the clutch mech means 1x10 is a very cheap upgrade. Mavic rims and Conti tyres at this price are also a pleasant surprise. finishing kit seems pretty good too. Especially the boardman lock on grips.Date published: 2017-10-19Rated 5 out of 5 by BigCloud from Excellent bike I've had this bike for just under a year and I love it. The level of equipment is hard to beat for sub-£1000. The only other bike on the market I saw that came close was the Voodoo Zobop but the boardman wins on build quality with seemless welds and harder wearing paint. This bike is really well sorted and everything feels very positive, the gearing gives a good balance, the brakes are brilliant and the suspension is far better that I expected. It's really confidence inspiring and I've smashed a lot of times set by a friend on his Specialised Camber (around £1500). if I had to pick downsides I would say it bugs me that there's no rear lockout. You can adjust the stiffness on the move easily enough but even on max stiffness there is still a reasonable amount of play especially with a bigger lad like myself which results in a lot of wasted energy and lost time on uphill sections. The other thing is the tyres are fairly rubbish and I'm looking forward to changing them. That said, I still wouldn't look passed it for sub-£1000. Something else I found disappointing was Halfords ability to put the bike together. I got mine from the Inverness store and on my second trip out while on a tricky downhill section the handle bar came loose. I went over the whole bike after that and found that the headstock and crank bolts were newhere near tight. Naughty naughty Halfords!Date published: 2017-10-11
