Carrera Fury Mountain Bike is rated out of 5 by 13.Rated 5 out of 5 by t2ldn from absolutely brilliant :) entry level bike this bikes color scheme is perfect and grabs a lot of attention and has very silky smooth gear changed because of the new sram 1*11 nx system and has a very smooth suspension that can take a good beating, the seat once it gets used for about 3 weeks feels way more softer and wheelies are perfect on this bike, i use this bike for trail riding in swinley and it manages it perfectly.Date published: 2017-09-17Rated 5 out of 5 by Beardedbill from Very, very happy. I have had this bike for 6 weeks, even though I am by no means an expert biker, everything seems great up to now. I am in my mid-thirties and I am overweight, which is the reason I have chosen to take advantage of my companies cycle to work scheme. I have not owned a mountain bike since my early twenties. I am very impressed with how light and easy to ride this bike is. I actually look forward to riding it, daily. The brakes are super responsive, the pedals are very grippy and the forks offer that extra bit of bounce when needed. I really like the colour scheme - stands out from the crowd and turns heads. My only negative point is the seat - really uncomfortable. That my well just be for me as I am 6ft and 22st. All in all - well worth the £600 I am paying. If you can get it in the sale - do so. You wont regret it.Date published: 2017-08-28Rated 4 out of 5 by DF2210 from Carrera Fury Brought this as my first MTB in 10 years when it was £480. This is a great price for the components you have on this bike and I couldn't find better for the price. The SRAM NX 1x11 is a very nice touch and can be found on more expensive bike (E.G. Whyte 901 which is £1.3k) The Raidon fork is pretty good and nice to have an air fork however this has failed on me twice. The first time it bottomed out and lost all air and wouldn't reinflate (Halfords swapped the bike for a new one) and this has happened again since which gives you a shock when the fork collapses riding fast. Otherwise it has been good. The brakes are ok. However if you ride hard they will eventually become underpowered. I find I could do with more power now I am riding faster. They can also judder. That said, they are fairly consistent and do modulate. Tyres are actually pretty good considering they won't be the highest quality compound of the tyre being the OEM version. But they are fast rolling and grippy. Colour is a bit garish. Not my first choice if I could have chosen. I swapped the grips for lock ons as they where a bit horrible. No stealth routing for a dropper post. I have put a external routed dropper on which works fine but would have preferred stealth. Otherwise I am happy with this bike. It can do a job for sure. I regularly can get best time of the day using Strava at Swinley forest on the flatter trails on this bike.Date published: 2017-07-24Rated 5 out of 5 by Johncarrerafury from Carrera fury Had it a week now after updating from an older model carrera fury this is the best bike I have ridden ever . It has got me even looking forward to going on a ride where I made my usual excuses that it look like rain ,if your undecided just get it and get on it you will love it,great staff at horwich great help with everythingDate published: 2017-05-18Rated 4 out of 5 by Gunner265uk from Brilliant bike for the money I needed a bike for work purposes, my current fat bikes couldn't fit in the racks at work. I looked at many options and many other retailers. I used to own a carrera kraken back in 2013 and it was an amazing and flawless bike. I looked at a lot of bikes at Halfords, looked at the new kraken and then saw the Fury was on special off (£480 in bank holiday sale, was originally £600) I liked the look of the bike and 1-11 sram nx gearing. The bikes spec was quite high for a bike if it's price range. Got an extra 10% off thanks to Halfords being in partnership with British cycling. Applied for finance which was painless and tool about 30 mins to sort and was given an instant decision. Collection was arranged after a bike build but was slightly delayed due to high work load. On collection of the bike the chap went through everything and double checked everything was nice and tight etc. Good to go. I've had the bike for 4 weeks now and riden approximately 80 miles on it. Rides really well, very fast on the road, very good off road. The gearing is absolutely spot on. Brakes are good but I've now upgraded them to the sram levelTL version as the sram standard level are good but felt a bit week for my purposees. Also changed the rotors to 203mm front and rear, again for my own personal choice. Nothing wrong with the ones fitted. Upgraded the wheelset to premium brand, again nothing wrong with the wheelset that comes with the bike, there very strong and will be used for the winter when road conditions worsens. The wheelset that was on the bike are double walled alloy and the spokes are eyeleted adding to there Street. Unbranded but very smoth hubs. Changed the tyres also (ordered from Halfords website) You might say why not buy and bike with all the upgrades already fitted and that's a good point. My answer is this. The Carrera Fury is a bike well worth investing in. It has a lovely looking well built alloy frame, great suspension air forks and you would expect to pay a lot more for a bike of the same spec but a different brand. This is a brilliant, even before the upgrades, now it's absolutely awesome. Looks and rides well.Date published: 2017-05-18Rated 5 out of 5 by Richtoy from Furious bike This is my second Fury, the first I bought in 2006 and still use, having had to replace the crank and bottom bracket, and hub bearings over the years. The headrace and Tora forks are still original, and brilliant. This new Fury cost the same price in 2017 as the Fury in 2006 - £480 in a 20% off sale. Can you work that one out? The air suspension Suntour is not as effective as my 11-year-old Tora on my first Fury, but is SO much lighter, and aids sharp steering somewhat. The tops of both sides of the fork have rubbed all the paint off from cables in only two outings. I go to Bedgebury Red routes every weekend, and have done for years, so I'm not too shy on bashing the bikes about. This new Fury's gears are sublime. Smooth as silk and no fuss fast switching is just heaven. The ratios are superb, I can bomb up 'Cardiac' hill (which is 45 degree monster) in bottom gear, and bomb it down the cake run (fast inclined twisty). The bike is SO light, 18" is just over 11Kg on my scales, (The old Fury was 14KG). Other delights are the brakes - WOW! - but need adjusting so the levers are on max extension to prevent gripping fingers being pinched when used with one or two fingers on the levers. Had to change handlebars to some with a rake - these are straight, and clamp was also a little weak looking to me, so changed that for tougher downhill version too. Chucked the garish orange grips and replaced with plain clamp-ons. Threw the even-more-garish seat and put a comfy Royal Gelle on to replace. Chucked the pedals and put on some grippy Nuke proofs. May consider upgrading tyres in winter, though they drift around downhill corners beautifully. Would recommend, brilliant value. Don't waste your money on anything more expensive, I've tried specialized and giants and the like from friends, absolutely matches them. This is a great bike, superbly made, and with a few tweaks, fast as your body can manage through the trails. I can now keep up with my 16 year old son! Fab buy!Date published: 2017-05-17Rated 5 out of 5 by Ezymann from Great value and nice ride Bought for my wife. She is 5'11 and size is spot on. I rode the bike bike miles home. I am 6'2 and size is fine if you like bikes slightly small. I ride a lot both off road and on and this bike felt like a much more expensive bike. Geometry is great and gears superb. In fact it was a lot of fun. Not sure how fork would be on serious off road but that is based on me thinking something can't be as good on a bike costing £480 compared to one costing 4times as much.Date published: 2017-05-14Rated 5 out of 5 by Kernowlokal from Very good I've just bought this as my first new bike in about 7-8 years, so perhaps it's a case of the technology moving along a lot, but this seems very good so far. I was worried about the 1x11 not being sufficient, my last bike was 24 speed, but it's good. 1st is probably a bit low ratio, considering I'm unfit at the moment, rode it offroad and didn't find anything that needed something that low. Perhaps I'll change the front ring or cassette at some point, but it's fine for now. The shift is a nice slick click, nothing like the stuff on my old bike (which was a mix of Shimano bits). I like the forks, I wanted one with a lock out as I will be using it on smooth surfaces a bit and it's ideal. I don't think the fork adjusts that much, but I wanted a fairly firm fork. The brakes are very effective, a big step on from the centre pull ones on my old bike. I'm a big guy and they had no problems stopping me on a big, steep hill. The value of the bike is brilliant. I looked at rebuilding my old bike and I would have ended up with a much more basic bike. I looked at other brands and there were a couple that close in spec, but there was something lacking in all of them and they all cost more. I only have one minor issue. The pictures on here are of a black/red/white bike and as they didn't have one in my local Halfords, I had to rely on the pictures. Rather than red, it's fluoro orange, which is a bit bright for me.Date published: 2017-05-12
