Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 108 reviewers.Rated 4 out of 5 by yungfmc Great Bike This is a great bike for the price. It is very light, fast and has decent brakes. I was pleasantly surprised with its off road handling and control and the tires gripped very well on muddy and grassy terrain. It is also very quick on road and very comfortable. I wasn't a big fan of the toe straps on the pedals and the saddle was very uncomfortable so I had to get them replaced and also the gears can be a bit dodgy but for a bike of this price, I think it is of great value and is overall a very nice bike and is great for commuting and going for rides on and off road. 17 July 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by thatmatureguy This bike is BEAUTIFUL If you're getting your first Boardman bike... This should be your first! This is a great bike, works on any terrain. If you want to go faster best thing to do is. 1. Reserve Gatorskin Tires from Halfords (£22.99) and then buy them in the store. 2. Buy continental inner tubes (700c x 20-25c) (£7) Get the inner tubes from wiggle (save you abit of money) I have had this bike since February 2016 and has not let me down. you take care of the bike and the bike will take care of you. 20 June 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by banta123 BRILLIANT amazing bike, friendly service, THANK YOU HALFORDS 31 May 2016Rated 2 out of 5 by theboxroom SORRY, WOULDN'T BUY ANOTHER ONE I bought this bike from Halfords, Wigan and despite asking 3 times for my email receipt, haven't received it. First trip out, the front brake screamed like a banshee every time the speed got up a little. Turned out the the brake assembly had not been set up right. I learned this 25 miles down the road from a helpful Halfords mechanic who rectified the fault for me and stopped the brakes from binding. I'm now on my fourth ride and the very annoying noise is returning, especially as I try to come out of the saddle. The front brake "snatches" like crazy and makes a permanent whirring noise that I am unable to get rid of. It would appear to be caused by the shoes rubbing on the disc. Incidently, the front disc and the rear disk are completely different. Why? The back brake is okay. It is about as good as normal MTB brakes, certainly no better. The chain actually went rusty on the road whilst on the second ride out when it was a little damp. Made a lot of a noise towards the end. I have now replaced this with a decent Shimano chain at my expence. The wheels are pretty good, fast and quiet, but I have got one spoke that needs tightening already. Because of an end of season deal (I got the 2014 model) I was able to purchase this at a knock down price of £400 from £600+. Had I have paid the full price, it would be back at Halfords for a full refund. As it is, I will try to get it put back the bike into some sort of order and deffo demand a new brake on the front. Overall, this bike has won the prize for being the worst of many bikes that I have purchased in over 30 years of cycling. Chris Boardman has long since been a hero of mine but I shan't be buying anymore of his bikes. Pity. I have tried to be fair in my marking of this machine and not be to hard. 21 March 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by Eca05rjc Great bike Bought from the Newark store today. Excellent service and really knowledge guys. The bikes great, good weight, comfortable and rides really well. I've very pleased with the price and value for money. 15 March 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by Ian74 great entry into CX Really impressed with this bike, even more so as i picked it up in the clearance! good spec and decent geometry make it a really nice bike to take anywhere, has already tackled a few hundred miles since bought of roads, lanes, gravel trails, even some woodland single track i normally ride a full suspension MTB on, which it handled surprisingly well. would have been nice to get a hollow crank with external BB but for this price i can't knock it!! another great bike from boardman, would recommend getting one if you're looking for a first CX bike. 25 March 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by Dad83 All good! I've always had mountain bikes but wanted something a bit lighter for over the winter months to get a bit more mileage in. A few mates had been getting CX bukes so took the plunge. No turning back now. Excellent bike, rides well, brakes rub a little but that doesn't bother me as it's not enough to be slowing me down. Gear changes are smooth and brakes do work pretty well. I had to change the saddle as it was quite painful after about 20 miles. Very impressed with the Boardman range and good value for money! 06 February 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by Harvelar Last year's model, but still a great bike I ride over 100 miles a week, all year round, but don't have any desire to spend £000's, when this does the same job or arguably better; Why better? Well, assuming that you aren't actually racing, what you want is a bike that is reasonably light (at around 11 kg, broadly as light as most), with decent gears (it has!), BUT with the addition of mechanical disc brakes for all condition stopping (very few 'road' bikes have), the ability to fit decent mudguards (+panniers if you so wish) and MOST IMPORTANTLY (if you've ever changed, or waited for someone else to change, a puncture in the winter), wide enough wheels to fit puncture resistant tyres. I rode over 7,000 miles on the Boardman Hybrid, but treated myself to this end of season bargain and am very happy with it. 21 March 2016
