  • Boardman Road Comp Bike 2016 is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good solid bike after fixing some teething problems I wanted a not too expensive road bike with disc brakes as I find I am often riding in heavy rain. The choice was this Boardman Comp or Carrera Vanquish with disc brakes. I found the spec of the Boardman to be better in the end and so went for this. One of the wheels was not as true as I would have liked it, perhaps who cares if it has no rim braking, but I did and corrected it. I noticed the back wheel was not in the centre of the frame even though dished correctly. It turned out to be the rear triangle was 4mm off centre. The choice was bend the frame (which I did not want to do) or off centre the wheel to compensate (which I did). Brake levers were too close to the handlebars when braking. The discs had to be trued to bring the pads closer which fixed the issue. Now I have I as I would want it (as I am a high mileage rider and therefore perhaps more fussy), it is very good in the way it rides and handles. My only real disappointment is the frame geometry - I have never experienced one this far out but was easily worked around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boardman Comp I love Boardman, I have the full suspension mountain bike has well which was also purchased from Halfords, I have a Pinarello road bike too but I love this Boardman comp I purchased from Halfords, they built it and all I had to do was alter the saddle and add my own Boardman clip in pedals to it, it truly is a great bike and a bargain too. I now have three great bikes for all round year use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great base bike Any "good" cyclist will update their bike as soon as they get it. First...The saddle is awful...nice looking but as hard as concrete...changed that!. Mechanical disc brakes have been replaced by hydraulic. Dropped handlebars changed to straight carbon fibre. Now it's a bike......Lovely!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Early happiness I am very happy with the bike, although be careful during the sizing of the bike with Halfords and ensure that the bike is built to a good standard. Following picking up the bike I felt that the bike wasn't riding great...and was assured that there were safety checks completed and the bike would have been built properly. However I brought it to get fitted for cleats at a different store and my concerns were correct...bike slightly too big even though was told a 53cm frame was correct, seat and handlebars were set poorly and offline. Now my seat can't be raised as much as I would have liked and so position on the bike isn't the best which causes pain. Quite disappointing following the concerns raised. Now I feel more comfortable with the bike. Although the bike is a very good product upon first impressions and rides.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boardman comp road bike - 2017 really happy with this bike, it's fun to ride and is a comfortable road bike. i have been using this for commuting and fun rides on roads and tracks. Pros; - comfy position, even on the drops, - x28 tyres are comfy but don't feel slow, - the dual piston mechanical disc brakes feel excellent and easy to adjust, - feels light (my one is ~ 10.6 kg), - steers very well and is quite comfortable, - SORA RS3500 shifters/mechs shift nicely, - taps for a rack - top tube has no cables/lines along it, which i think looks better. cons; - the saddle is uncomfy, even for a road bike, but this will mostly be personnal preference (i have had to fit another). - The indexing on the front and rear mechs needed adjusting, which i did myself (easy to learn how to do form youtube). - head tube bearing wasn't seated properly and needed adjusting once it had seated after going over a pothole, easy to do with some allen keys, etc. - for a sportive style bike, extra or thicker wrapping on the haddlebars from the off would have been nice. all the above cons were easily sorted, new saddle and a little time with some allen keys, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boardman Road Comp Bike This is my first road bike, and I am extremely happy with it. From the delivery, assembly, and great customer service, cherry on top is that it rides like a dream.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boardman Road Bike This is the second road bike I've bought from Halfords and I couldn't be happier. My 1st was a Carrera Zelos so this is a huge step up ib quality. Disc brakes are fantastic, the gears change when you need them too and no slipping. Plenty if hills in Galway and I've had no problems so far. have only had my Boardman a few weeks (200k) so can't speak for the tyres but no puntures as yet and they roll well. The bike is light and easy to maneuver. I got my Boeardman for €640 in the sale which was reduced from €840 so I'm delight with the money I saved.
