Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 73 reviewers.Rated 5 out of 5 by Roadyist Winter Roadie Happened to venture in to the local Halfords and saw this was heavily discounted but, they only had a 53cm. Checked the geometry and it sizes up like a 55cm so I gave it a whirl. When the sales person then told me it came with £100 free accessories, it was a done deal. Bought for winter so happy it's all alloy with components that won't cost a fortune to replace. Quite impressed with Claris. Yes, doesn't feel nearly as good as the high end group sets but, it's efficient. The ride is generally good; harsher than carbon but that's perfectly fine. It's a little hefty too but that should help build fitness, right?! I was disappointed that I had to basically build the bike again when I got home, despite the PDI being signed off and a five minute attempt to sell me the servicing package. Otherwise, for a bike that essentially cost me £170, I'm chuffed. The paint looks great, rides well, decent components (well, bin the saddle and pedals) and a bargain. 25 September 2016Rated 3 out of 5 by Eric45 Mixed bag This bike has a beautifully finished frame and great paint job throughout and is certainly eyecatching. I already have another two entry level road bikes and this bike has the best gear change (Claris) STI mechanism. I witnessed a quality problem with the front wheel in that at least 4 spokes were slack causing the wheel not to be true and exhibiting excessive road noise over rough surfaces. The actual ride was disappointingly slow compared to my other bikes. It just seemed very sluggish and heavier. I replaced the Vittoria 25mm tyres in favour of Schwalbe Lugano 23mm which has improved greatly but still not in the same league as my favourite other bikes . I do however like the pedals which are a cut above for an entrance level bike. Overall, it's a fine bike let down by the heavy wheels and lacking a carbon fork. 15 September 2016Rated 4 out of 5 by Verified Reviewer Brilliant bike! This is a superb bike for the money! It's very light and the 11-30 cassette range makes it able to compete with some seriously more expensive bikes on flat while I've cruised up some serious inclines (Slieve Maan, Shay Elliot, Molls Gap). Tyres are smooth down centre with grooves either side for added traction on corners. Great for confidence in wet Irish summer. Had a Scott speedster with Tiagra gearing and the difference between that higher spec and the claris on this is minimal. You'd want to be seriously pernicitiy to be put out by it. Plastic pedals are terrible. Best to get SPD's straight away. 09 August 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by Jimbow78 Great value Looking for a first road bike for my 13 year son when came across this with a great discount and with the £100 free accessories, crazy not to! Bike itself, You'll never go far wrong with a boardman! 16 July 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by blackbeltdad nice bike I have only used it once so far and managed to work out how the gear change works! Nice ride, padded shorts needed! Excellent service from Halfords in Newton Abbot and Torquay. 18 June 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by VoodoLukas Very happy with the purchase and service at old kent road branch Very good service and halfords staff at old kent road always makes me come back for yet another great bike. The manager Mr Grizzle is vety knowledgeable and makes it easy to make the decision. Bike is very good due to mavick rims I'm quite heavy and need better rims/tire therfore upgraded straight away for gatorskins. Very good deal at the shop and helpful staff 5* 07 April 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by Cosymo Brilliant bike for the price A good bike at a good price. If this lasts as long as my old bike then I'll be happy.Service at Edge Lane is hard to fault. 23 March 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by getmeoutofhere Great Value This is my first road bike. As it is the 2014 model it is heavily discounted, and probably won't be available for much longer. But all the more reason to get it. I compared this bike to what is available, and it is a lot of quality for the sale price. It has the claris groupset, which is better than what you get on other bikes at similar prices. In fact, the weight of the bike and the groupset compare well with bikes twice the price. Another thing that made me get it is a small detail: There are lugs provided to fit a carrier. So I can use it for touring in summer. Many road bikes don't have that feature. For me it is a pleasure to ride, as I never had such a fast machine. I am already replacing car journeys with it! I had one problem with it, the spokes came loose on the front wheel. Turns out they were not properly tensioned at the factory. But the shop sorted that out for me. Its a great looking bike. Of course that makes it a thief magnet, so a shackle lock is a must if parking it in town. If you are looking for a decent road bike at a great price, snap one of those up would be my advice. 30 March 2016
