Carrera Virtuoso Road Bike - 51, 54cm Frames is rated out of 5 by 68.Rated 5 out of 5 by Ray63 from Excellent First Road Bike I have had a Boardman hybrid bike for sometime and wanted to try a road bike but didn't want to spend too much money incase I didn't like the riding position. I spend months researching different manufactures and comparing to the spec against my hybrid bike. I saw this bike in Halfords and tried it for size which looked perfect. First time out was a 40 mile charity cycle ride and totally love the bike, wish I had got one years ago.Date published: 2018-05-14Rated 5 out of 5 by Chesneytheduck76 from It's a good 'un For the money, you really can't go wrong. Built mine myself and the gears required no fine tuning out of the box, which is a first. I was looking for a commuter so didn't want or need carbon forks, sora running gear etc. This is nice and sturdy (but light) and gets down the road with little fuss. Performance wise, I can't tell the difference between this and my Giant Defy (£400+). I've fitted full length SKS mudguards and flipped the stem for a slightly better view of the road and SMIDSY's. The stock kenda tyres are trash and were replaced with Vittoria Zaffiro's and I fitted SPD pedals as the ones fitted are only "get you home" quality. Still not particularly keen on the paint scheme (reminds me of a Mars bar wrapper!) but makes it look less flash for tea leaves and is more practical than the more usual white I go for.Date published: 2018-05-08Rated 5 out of 5 by Broley09 from Great looking bike Grest product would highly recommend to anyone who is novice or expert.Date published: 2018-05-03Rated 5 out of 5 by PappaWes from 3000 mile review I am posting this very honestly and I hope it helps 3000 miles since July last year and I'm still happy with my virtuoso. Replaced pedal virtually straight away with red flats off Amazon - the original ones with toe clips are awful Replaced original Kendall tyres with Marathon Plus at 1700 miles as wall had perished. Replaced BB with Shimano at 2000 miles under warranty Replaced original chain with Clarks at 2000 miles due to stretch and I'm going to put Shimano HG chain on anytime now as well as new sprockets Rear hub has a little play but a quick service will sort that out. All in all, for a 2x8 Claris and 11kg this is a GREAT bike - especially when it drops well below £300 as it regularly does. Do not hesitate to buy this bike - I am happy doing 5000 miles in a year on this and replacing the wear and tear itemsDate published: 2018-04-29Rated 5 out of 5 by Julie54 from Great Bike I needed to upgrade my ancient racer for something more modern when I decided to do a triathlon in middle age after a long gap. Although I have cycled occasionally throughout my life, it was my first new cycle bought for purpose, and I didn't have unlimited funds. This cycle is comfortable, fast and light, and is exceptional value for money. It is making my cycle rides a pleasure and if not effortless then much easier.Date published: 2018-04-27Rated 1 out of 5 by Colm96 from Awful save your money Bike maybe cheap but keep your money! Only had it two weeks and left arm crank came off, and square taper had rounded itself after 100k . brought it back and tried to charge me to have it replaced. ShockingDate published: 2018-04-27Rated 5 out of 5 by 8Dave63 from Value for money This is a great starter bike for going on the road and won’t break the bank. Very responsive with great pick up. The only modification I made was the pedals as I was going to start with clip in shoes.Date published: 2018-04-23Rated 5 out of 5 by MaltB from Only a month into cycling to work and I love this bike It has been years since I was last on a bike, mountain bike back and forth to school maybe 15 years ago was my previous peak and experience level. So I came to road bikes as a complete beginner. We were looking around a while and came across the Carrera Virtuoso Road Bike and did a little research on it (plus read a lot of the comments below). Purchased the bike a little over a month ago for a 30km round trip to work. The bike is great, very smooth, gears nice, brakes very good and wheels are perfect for the roads around here. The only thing we upgraded on the bike was the seat, the one provided was a little hard for someone not used to being on a bike. We left everything else as it was as we weren't sure if we could handle the cycle to work. But the bike makes it easy. Would I recommend this bike yes 100%. The guys in our local halfords set it all up for us but one thing they forgot to do was oil the chain so a bit of rust appeared very quickly which I went in to get sorted as soon as I saw it, but once fixed that wasn't a issue. I can't compare this to a fancy carbon fiber bike, but I can tell you that it is a great bike for my commute to and from work with a good feeling bike underneath. Best of luck if you get it and enjoy the ride.Date published: 2018-04-08
