Carrera Virtuoso Road Bike - 51, 54cm Frames is rated out of 5 by 55.Rated 4 out of 5 by Knacker23 from road bike this bike is as good as any thing twice the price.only let down by very poor wheels.buy a pair of better wheels and you have a really good bike.ok the gears dont change as well as the more expensive shifters but the do work and do the job well.im my opinion if you can look past the brand snobbery you will save money for upgrades when needed.but better wheels are a must.if your after a bike to use for every day use and not to club race this will fit the bill nicely.Date published: 2017-12-15Rated 5 out of 5 by deBauch from She's a Beaut! I can't sing the praises of this bike highly enough. I got her in September and I've now done almost 1000 miles on it on some of the roughest roads in the UK around Greater Manchester and all over the Western Pennines. The potholes around here are shocking and these aren't "cycle lanes" around here, they're Paris Roubaix training tracks. I was particularly worried about this as I'm 6ft 3 and 16.5 stone (or I was as I've now lost 2.5 stone on the bike) and I've SMACKED many potholes at high speed...not a problem...she eats potholes! She's responsive, light and an all round brilliant ride. I'm back on a road bike for the first time in 30 years and I couldn't be happier with this bike. I'd also like to add that the boys and girls at Halfords Oldham have been super helpful and first class. I highly recommend the Carrera VirtuosoDate published: 2017-11-16Rated 5 out of 5 by Sammy91 from Great first road bike Got this as I was sick of commuting on my old hybrid bike and my GOODNESS does it make a difference! I've never owned a road bike before so was a littler nervous that I would be wasting my money, but so far I've been blown away by how much of a difference it has made - riding is a joy again!Date published: 2017-10-17Rated 5 out of 5 by Hilldodger1 from Don’t look any further! If you’re just starting out road cycling or getting back into it, this bike really is the one for you, I’m cranking out the miles on this budget bruiser, getting fitter & slimmer and enjoying it and shaving time off sections ( down hills and flats :) on Strava from my younger brother on his expensive carbon machine. Great service and advice from Halfords staffI, I recommend upgrading to clip in pedals.Date published: 2017-10-16Rated 5 out of 5 by JJ45 from Great allrounder I bought this as it was great value in the sale (£260) and I wanted a cheap to insure machine to get around town and be able to leave chained up without too much worry. I've been really surprised how good this bike is and have started to use it for training as well. I was worried about the size with the 54cm frame as I'm 6ft 2", but it's fine and my wife (5ft 7) can use it as well. The gears were nicely set up by Halfords and they work really nicely. The only thing I have changed are the pedals. I can only compare this to my GT Grade 105 and it's not as far off as I would have expected. The pickup is slower, the brakes aren't nearly as good and the gears aren't as smooth (or plentiful), but that's it really. It's the same weight and it looks good in black. I'm pleased with it.Date published: 2017-10-09Rated 4 out of 5 by Farooq from Great starter bike Great road bike for me as I used a mountain bike previously and wanted a road for commuting. It looks great and travels quite fast. There are two minor setbacks for me, which can be easily sorted, so planning on using the 6-week maintenance service. Firstly, I didn't like the toe straps but I removed them easily enough, but the pedal itself spins too freely so can sometimes push off on the underside of the pedal, but I'm planning on changing these pedals. Also, the chainset is a bit clunky when changing gears but that is probably my inexperience, but I can use the maintenance service from Halfords to sort this out. Overall, this is a great bike for the price and i would recommend to beginners.Date published: 2017-09-26Rated 4 out of 5 by Kieran24 from Great first road bike I was looking for my first road bike, read lots of reviews of lots of different bikes. The Carrera Virtuoso kept standing out as a very well priced, well sorted good value entry level bike. I have to agree with all the other reviews. It is a fantastic bike. Very light and easy to ride. The quality is up there with some of the big brands as is the equipment level. I found it very comfortable aswell. Only thing I would say is the pedal straps are the worst bit about it. I will be investing in a pedal/shoe combo soon but it won't stop me enjoying many more miles of riding. I love this bike. The red decals are also a lot brighter than they look in the photos, more of an orangey red. I liked this but others may diasagree.Date published: 2017-09-11Rated 5 out of 5 by P3T3R8 from Top buy I purchased this bike mid May as a commute after upgrading from a mountain bike on slicks. What a revelation! Not only has my occasional commute become 15 mins quicker it has also become much more regular. Just racked up over 1200 miles and can't wait to get out on weekends. The bike just gets better along with my competence. Completed a 100 miler yesterday with an alu/carbon & full carbon rider and kept pace all the way. Also well worth getting the service plan, i pop it in every 3-4 weeks to Cheadle store and they keep it in tip top condition. Upgraded pedals to spd's but still kenda tyres. Only 1 puncture which was an impact. Don't get dazzled by brand names and big price tags, this looks and is the part. Thoroughly recommend.Date published: 2017-09-04
