Women's Cycling, Review: '"If anyone knows what a woman needs from a bike, then Victoria Pendleton does. It's a smart looking bike. The finish is excellent and I liked the strong blue colour, with the addition of rainbow bands around the forks and seat-tube to celebrate the designer's incredible achievements in the sport." says tester Janet Birkmyre.'

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 41 reviewers.Rated 4 out of 5 by Newroadrunner Great beginner road bike So far I love it, done a 18.8 mile charity run on it and worked fine. But disappointed couldn't get the handle bars but higher . The seat sore after a few miles in so I'd look at upgrading. I would recommend getting gloves as handle bars hurt after few miles and the bar goes black from where you held it. Did the job and felt a nice ride and went faster then any bike I been on. Great built these bikes , all staff love the quality build of this bike and the name is a popular make. For £299 this bike is great for people on a budget. 27 March 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by Gra43 Pendleton Road Bike Excellent first road bike and the service I received was outstanding. Thank you again Halfords. 14 March 2016Rated 5 out of 5 by wilburkins Great value starter road bike Similar to the previous review, I have also signed up to do a sprint triathlon and realised that I needed a much quicker bike. I did a novice triathlon last year and used my Halfords Entice mountain bike as it was only 4K. This "proper" triathlon is 24K and having gone out on my mountain bike a month ago quickly realised that it would take me forever to do that distance compared to having a road bike. I spent a while looking and stumbled across this one. There wasn't one in store to see (as it had apparently been stolen) but one was ordered in for me to inspect without any obligation to buy. I loved it the minute I saw it but was quite nervous about managing to ride it home. I needn't have worried as I got the hang of riding it quite quickly but figuring out the gears took a tiny bit longer. I am 5ft 2 and it is a bit of a reach still to get to the gears/brakes - I am much more comfortable riding it with my hands on the top but again that will come with practice. I bought the small version and really wouldn't want to be any shorter for this bike. The seat is set at its lowest point and the handlebars at its highest. I find it a lot more comfortable than I was expecting it to be. Overall, very happy with my purchase, the service at the store I visited and the price paid. 14 May 2015Rated 5 out of 5 by ElaineT Excellent value road bike Having previously had mountain bikes and hybrids, I was a little worried about purchasing a road bike. I am a small frame so the idea of stretching to the drop down handle bars on skinny tyres was not my idea of fun. Having signed up to a sprint triathlon and needing to purchase a new bike, I almost bought a much more expensive equivalent. Thankfully, by chance, I found this bike. For the money, it is incredible value. The frame is perfect for me and it feels a secure and comfortable ride. The gear levers took a little getting used to but they become easy once you get the knack. If you can find one in stock, then buy it! Negatives: the tyres are very basic so upgrade is essential. The saddle is pretty hard but not painful. Big thank you to Jake (Whetstone) and Gary (Friern Barnet) for all their help and valuable bike knowledge. 02 May 2015Rated 5 out of 5 by Strawberryblonde Great product & great service Very pleased with the bike, great quality and great value. My daughter is very pleased with it. Used the collect service & the bike was ready the next day! 5 stars!! 13 June 2015Rated 5 out of 5 by Sophstar1 New Pendleton This bike is great, I signed up to cycle the Norwich 50 miles and also needed a bike for commuting 3 miles to and from work. Not having great experience riding on a racer styled bike and finding one that suited my 5.4 height I came across the Pendleton initial and loved it the moment I collected it. The cycle republic staff were exceptionally helpful and have me some useful pointers and advice about looking after my bike. I'd recommend this bike for a first time and experienced on road rider, it's surely got me hooked to cycle more often. 10 June 2015Rated 5 out of 5 by Verified Reviewer Great starter bike Being new to cycling I didn't want to spend a fortune. This bike ticks all the boxes and has great spec for the money. It's lightweight and looks good. I love it and highly recommend it if your just starting out 06 April 2015Rated 5 out of 5 by Globulin777 Fantastic Starter Road Bike I was looking in another shop at a €600 bike for my wife but she wouldn't have any of it. She was insistent that she wouldn't spend €600 on a bike she might not keep riding so we saw this in Halfords, Portlaoise and it was the last one in the shop. As soon as I saw Shimano STI shifters (even Claris) I knew there was no way she would get anything like it for the price so I persuaded her to let me be it and she has been out on it most days now and loves it. The paint job is fantastic, classic 80's style. It is heavy, as would any touring bike be and because it has decent clearance and proper mounting eyes you could fit proper mudguards and panniers if you wanted. The cheapest equivalent bike for a male is a Raleigh with Claris for touring type cycling starting at €800. This has to be the best value starter road bike there is on the market. Brakes are tektro too. You wouldn't get unbranded junk in a toy store for that price. I have four different road bikes and if they had a male version of this I would have snapped one up too for touring around. Don't listen to any negative comments its a win win at this price. Staff at Halfords Portlaoise were very friendly too. Top marks. 21 March 2015
