Lake MX145 Waterproof Boot is rated out of 5 by 8.Rated 5 out of 5 by Bayboy8 from Lake MX145 Waterproof Boot Purchased these whilst in the end of winter season sale, primarily for using next winter. I've worn them a couple of times recently and now starting to get use to the lace system which at first seamed really difficult to manage. The boots are really comfy so far I've not been through any raging torrents so can't vouch for their waterproofness they do however keep your feet warm. Seamed a good price and with my British Cycling Membership discount made them more appealing. Time will tell wether or not they will stand our dampish climate - ask me again in 12 months.Date published: 2017-03-18Rated 4 out of 5 by Letmetalktomark from Sizing woes I should start by saying Halfords have prompted me to review a product I ended up NOT buying but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. I've wanted to find the right resolution to cold feet on the bike for some time now. These boots came with several good on line reviews so I thought I would give them a bash - well actually several pairs! I usually take a Uk 11 or UK 12 shoe so ordered in a pair of 47 boots to try. These were too small width wise by some way and with only a normal thickness sock on so I ordered a 47 wide. Whilst marginally roomier width wise they were still too small so I ordered a 48. Again even with a moderately thick sock on they were far too cramped to stretch and wiggle toes and still a little cramped length wise. I found the same issue with the 303. I should add I do not have Hobbit feet! :-) I didn't order in another size and bought some Shimano boots in a size 47 that were a true to life fit. The Lake boots seem reasonably well made and I've based my rating on all but fit. Definitely worth trying as if they fit they look like they ought to be a good weatherproof boot.Date published: 2017-01-14Rated 5 out of 5 by Bandit3840 from Lake mx145 Really nice good value for money and cheaper than any where elseDate published: 2016-12-05Rated 4 out of 5 by MichaelCH from Good, not great though Bought these wanting to have warm dry feet for winter road riding. Yes, I know they've got SPD fittings, but they work well with my Eggbeaters. The boots are great in terms of waterproofness and the Boa fasteners are the latest ones that micro adjust both ways. Not the warmest of boots though, even with thick merino socks. Very happy and to be confident of a decent fit, just draw around your socked foot and take a look at the Lake fitting guide on their website. It seems very accurate to the actual measurements of your foot. Very happy with them and they'll be a perfect companion for autumn and spring rides. Good value too at the discounted price of £100.Date published: 2016-11-30Rated 5 out of 5 by Mikecr from Well made boots and do the job. After quite some time of not being in stock, having to check weekly to see that they are available. I ordered the next size up and in a wide fitting as I have never worn Lake shoes or boots before. Had them delivered to halfords at Grimsby, the staff there are helpful and I tried the boots on before I bought them, just in case I needed to change them for a different size. The boots are well made and comfortable, sizing is definitely on the small size and pleased I ordered the 46/wide as the 45's would have being too small, Good fitting, but the toe box could be a little bit bigger especially when wearing thicker socks. Performed very well so far commuting to work - 20 mile ride, having taken in the best of British weather - wet and cold, heavy rain and vehicle spray, feet are nice and dry and warm, the waterproofness is doing a good job, Not tried MTB or CX in them yet, but will this coming weekend. One thing that is missing and should come with the boots is a set of mud studs that screw in the front of the tread. Tried to order them for CX racing, but have ordered rugby studs instead as they came next day delivery. Overall good quality and well made boot, now I don't get cold, wet feet and don't have to wear over shoes too. I recommend this product.Date published: 2016-11-17Rated 5 out of 5 by Roelof from Comfortable I promised myself some dry feet this winter so grabbed these while on offer. I wanted the Lake 303s but at almost double the price decided on the 145s. Pleasantly surprised as they are very comfortable riding and walking in. The cleats are recessed enough not to get damaged when walking and the soles very grippy. Liked them enough to order a second pair for my son who is pleased as punch. Cannot comment on waterproofness or warmth yet as winter is late.Date published: 2016-09-18Rated 5 out of 5 by SpRocketman from Way better than expected I will have to be honest and admit these are better than I'd dared to hope for. I've shredded a couple of pairs of overshoes this winter and decided something more robust was called for. A friend told me to get some winter shoes. So I did. These are everything overshoes aren't. Warm (very), dry (completely) and shred proof. My main worry was the high ankle but that was unfounded and I don't notice it on the bike. I definitely recommend them to anyone who rides more than once a week in the autumn, winter or spring.Date published: 2016-05-01Rated 5 out of 5 by cyclingsteve123 from Great boot, only make available in wide fitting. Currently have Northwave boots, probably a bit warmer than the Lakes, but I had to go 2 sizes up to get the width, Lakes wide fitting, means I can get the correct length. I think they are better looking than the North Wave too.Date published: 2016-02-10
