ReviewsSKS Chromoplastic Mudguard Set - 700 x 35mm 4 4Superb mudguards. These SKS mudguards were very easy to attach and do a very good job of keeping road debris off me and the drivetrain. 27 October 2014Mudguards to fit Boardman Hybrid Finally ! - I found some mudguards that actually fit my Boardman Hybrid Race after trying 3 other types that didn't ! These in the P45 size fit absolutely perfect (using the standard Vittoria 700x32c Tyres), and sit really solidly on the bike. The P35 set were too narrow, even though they're supposed to be suitable for upto 28c tyres, which these ones measure up as being in width with a digital caliper at 28mm. They took me a good while to cut the stays to just the right length (a few trial and error cuts due to the plastic end covers that sit at the top) but was well worth the time spent to get them right. The fittings for the stays are quite fiddly, and fall off easily whilst you try get it all aligned, so be prepared for some swearing and a few cups of tea whilst you get through this, but once tightened up, they prove to be very up to the job. Regarding cutting the stays, don't bother trying with a hacksaw, it won't work, - they're hardened and akin to piano wire, so won't saw. An alternative is some proper bolt cutters, but not sidecutters or pliers as they'll be damaged ! The best way I found is to use a Dremel with a cut off disc, which makes light work of it, then the sharp edges were finished off with a drum sanding wheel. The mudguards themselves needed no modifications at all to get them fitted, the only problem I encountered was fitting the left stay on the front mudguard. This was because the optional disc brake mount was slightly in the way. There was 2 possibilities around this: One involved bending the stays to suit, which would have been nigh on impossible being right at the plastic mount end. The second option involved cutting part of the disc brake mount off the forks to make room. I opted for the latter & used a junior hacksaw to cut a chunk off as I don't intend on upgrading from the V brakes anyway. Once this was filed square and the edges rounded off, a couple of coats of touch up paint later & you can't even tell I've done it, honestly ! So, with this out the way - literally, the front stays fit perfectly and is a small price to pay if you don't have, or intend to upgrade to disc brakes. Sounds a bit barbaric I know, but for neatness I'm glad I did it that way. I suppose one other alternative would be to pack the mount out away from the frame with something, although it would look uglier. Once they're on and aligned the tyres don't rub anywhere, so I'm very pleased with them. Just got to see what they're like in use now, but if other reviews about these across the internet are anything to go by, then they should be fine. 18 October 2014Great Product and nice looking too These mudguards are made of Aluminium and Plastic. So they are thinner than some other brands and also very nice looking. They fit well, but you would have to cut the stays to the required length. While this feature increases safety of the mudguard by preventing tips of the stays poking out and become an injury scare, you need a good hacksaw to cut them, as they are made of steel. So a normal wire cutter would not work. SKS should think of a little more practical solution for this problem. Otherwise, the product is fantastic and they give you excellent all-round protection. 01 September 2014great mudguards These mudguards are very well made and look great. they come with good instructions and a good fitting kit. they work well, no more wet feet and back for me. 19 February 20141-4 of 4
