Evo-stik Hard & Fast Metal Epoxy Putty is rated out of 5 by 28.Rated 1 out of 5 by Dthorb1975 from Exhaust repair Bought this as a temp repair to a stainless steel exhaust. Has a bad weld at one point with no corrosion or flexing in exhaust so I expected it to hold. Unfortunately although it says you can use it for exhaust repairs I cannot recommend it as I left it overnight after applying and it seemed to work until exhaust heated up, I now have the exhaust blowing at the weld again and a foul fishy smell where it is now burning the putty. Absolute rubbish (where heat is involved anyway) it didn't last any time and I would not waste the money on a product that is not fit for purpose. Would give it 0 stars if I could as I would have been as well putting chewing gum on the pipe.Date published: 2017-04-06Rated 5 out of 5 by Kiran53 from A great money saver I purchased this having snapped a brake disc rotor bolt in my wheel. While trying to drill it out the bit snapped and in shorts have to drill round the bit making a bigger hole. My plan was to use the mix to fill the hole and RE thread the hole. So my couple of tips, leave the hole rough, a perfect circle doesn't give a great deal to grab to. It might still work but I scuffed the sides with the drill bit so any pressure when tightening doesn't make the mix spin. Fill your hole and depending on how wide the whole you'll need to work out the right amount of time before you start to RE thread it. Mines was about 10mm wide. After 7 mins I drilled a pilot hole 4mm bit for a 6mm thread. I then slowed and evenly drove the new bolt into the hole and then reversed it. Without pulling the bolt I unscrewed it and left it to harden. After a couple more minutes I again placed it back in and removed it. Clearly seeing the new thread groves. I then left it for 4 hours before fitting the new discs. I've used this stuff before and to be honest it's best to leave it 24hrs before use. Then it's rock solid. Another tip, I used an old socked head, filled it with the mix and practiced threading the bolt into it. Gives you an idea of pressure before you work on the main job. Excellent product and has saved me £200 for a new wheel. Hope this helps.Date published: 2017-03-19Rated 5 out of 5 by kenjonbro from Fixed leaks hard & fast Had a core plug leaking from rust hole so fixed in 5 mins with the Hard & Fast epoxy. Still secure after 2 weeks so hopefully job done. The core plug was inaccessible without removing the engine mount so this was a better fixDate published: 2016-11-07Rated 5 out of 5 by Storm66 from Excellent I have always used this product on metal but now i thought i would try it on repairing the housing collar on my van where the wiper arm connects and low and behold it set in an hour in the rain and my wiper runs smoothly now. thank you halfords again for a fantastic product at a great price.Date published: 2016-09-06Rated 5 out of 5 by Timgr from Carb Repair Used this to repair broken screw socket, holding top and bottom of vintage 1930,s carb together, make sure parts are clean and original screw/bolt is correctly in threads and oiled. Rolled mixed and pressed on, goes off great and is easy to file to shape, replicated the threads well and has given a permanent repair. This is good stuff especially considering the carb is a horrible alloy monkey metal!Date published: 2016-08-10Rated 5 out of 5 by Acw1 from Brilliant Used it to repair thread on lever of bath mixer tap, did the job. Did what it said )))))) very pleased ,and impressedDate published: 2016-07-13Rated 5 out of 5 by Ellyut from Car Radiator Leak It looked like a small hole in the radiator which was leaking badly - streaming out. Tried to use a pour-in-radiator-tank seal but to no avail. Cut an inch off the stick, rolled and rolled it in a ball to mix it then made a pancake about four inches wide and pressed it over the hole, pushing It right in and around firmly. I switched the engine on for about 10 minutes to let it set, as stated in the instructions, but forgot to turn the heater on. Hasn't leaked since but the radiator coolant went grey. Good stuff!Date published: 2016-06-23Rated 5 out of 5 by Yas44 from Excellent product Used this to go over some welds on an exhaust pipe that was leaking. Seems like a good product as it has sealed the leaks. Does what it says on the tin.Date published: 2016-05-15
