Rated 2.6 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.Rated 1 out of 5 by Barrir Very poor product not like it used to be Despite following instructions to the letter, the product is dreadful. Very thin colour and recommended reading timescale between coats is totally unachievable. It just never goes off. These products used to be great, I can only guess that due to chemical restrictions they have been forced to change it completely Halfords were great and gave full refund with no quibble. Maybe they can start stocking the product that does work: s*****z Tough Black satin 13 November 2015Rated 5 out of 5 by Kenny99 Product does what it says Used this for painting motorcycle parts finish is the same as original factory parts. I did use Halfords grey primer with this as parts were alloy. 23 December 2014Rated 1 out of 5 by clint9000 Don't bother Worst paint I have used does not dry...Well it does, but takes 48 hrs...Just don't buy it... 25 October 2014Rated 1 out of 5 by cobraman Dreadfull! It seems have very little solids content and several very slow drying coats are needed to get any sort of coverage. Very disappointed as I have often used Hammerite paints in the past very successfully. 12 October 2014Rated 4 out of 5 by Chris345 The product literally does what it says on the tin. I used the Hammerite Satin finish spray paint and it gave the desired effect. 23 August 2014Rated 1 out of 5 by NowusesVHT Thin & sticky. terrible paint This paint is transparent thin, The temptation to spray too thick just to see some colour is very strong. Because the paint is sooo incredibly thin, you need lots of coats. at 15 mins dry time between coats this takes a very long time. The spray remains sticky/tacky in the meantime so all the dust and bugs floating around gets stuck to the paintwork. 01 April 2014Rated 1 out of 5 by backinblack never use again Totally agree with octane mans post, ive used this stuff for years previously,(even did a whole austin mini once and yes it looked good)and never had problems no matter how i applied it overly thick or whatever.I recently bought some cans for some wheels to spray(never again) thought it was me, but tried longer drying times between coats and even tried force drying but to no avail it still stays ridiculously soft.Oh another thing you cant avoid using several coats because opaque solids content seems non existent,ie virtually transparent.ALWAYS HAD FAITH IN THIS PRODUCT BUT NEVER AGAIN,TOTAL WASTE OF TIME,AVOID. 03 October 2013Rated 3 out of 5 by Octaneman I'm convinced they've changed the formula I've always been a massive fan of this paint and was intending to advise the negative reviewers on here that they need to have more patience and allow it to dry properly between coats. Well working with it the last couple of times I'm also somewhat disappointed . I've always used it in vehicle renovation as a 'Faster' DIY option over powder coating . I'm meticulous with my prep. taking the piece back to bare metal where poss of at the very least grinding off the rust followed by a wipe over with cellulose thinners to degrease, I also warm the paint in a sink of warm water and try to spray indoor in a heated garage or outside on a warm day. Today I allowed 30 minutes between very thin coats and it was still very tacky. After four coats it's plain int isn't going to dry today (rear bumper brackets Porsche) so the car is disabled until tomorrow. Hugely disappointing as I've always been a fan on the finish and have used in on bare metal/ rust or over black acid etch primer. I'd like to know why they have slowed the drying time down so much as I have a substantial amount of work coming up on this car. I'll be going the media blast/powder coat route rather than Hammerite as the drying time is now hardly a penalty compared to this paint. 10 August 2013
