Halfords Very High Temperature Paint Black 300ml is rated out of 5 by 12.Rated 5 out of 5 by kenny01 from Works great Sprayed my petrol rc car exhaust and decided to do 5 coats left to dry for a week. 5 hours so far of up to 350-400 in temps and the paint is fine and doing its jobDate published: 2017-06-10Rated 1 out of 5 by jels from Not black dries a mid grey not even dark, luckily is useless paint so comes off easily allowing me to repaint a different colour say BLACKDate published: 2016-05-28Rated 1 out of 5 by Carman101 from Again, not very high temperature I wish I'd read the reviews before wasting my money on such a duff product. Perfectly prepared surface was sprayed and then went grey soon afterwards (not black as advertised). Put on the vehicle to watch it slowly burn off about 2 hours later. I'm sure household emulsion would have lasted longer. A job for trading standards I think?Date published: 2016-05-15Rated 1 out of 5 by michael2828 from Terrible the most useless paint I have ever used Paint is coming off after 2 weeks already starting to show corrosion. Prepared metal same way I have many times before with good long lasting results but somehow this is a corroded mess after only two weeks. DO NOT BUY THIS PAINTDate published: 2015-12-01Rated 1 out of 5 by Encran from The worst HT paint I have ever used. I have a medely of problems with this paint. 1. Its not black, I have 5 tins covering 2 different batches and they all dry charcoal grey. 2. Not very heard wearing, was applied to very clean metal that was keyed with fine grit sandpaper. It was very easy to scratch off, when I say easy I mean fingernail easy. 3. It can change to a patchy brown/grey finsh when heated. 4. Paint applied to a peice of aluminium and steel and left for a week reacted with engine oil effectivly disolving the paint. Petrol, degreaser, oil all remove this paint. So spit probably would too. Its a terrible product thats not fit for its intended use.Date published: 2015-07-02Rated 1 out of 5 by rustychicken from Not Very High Temperature Paint It's not often I'm moved to write a review but having used Plastikote high temperature paints on motorcycle down pipes with great success I was annoyed to see this Halfords stuff change colour quite quickly from black to grey to brown. I used the paint on version from a tin. It is entirely unsuitable for very high temperatures that you get at the exhaust header. I am now trying it on a heatshield of a scooter which will operate at cooler temperatures before I chuck it in the bin. It is very watery and runny which also doesn't seem right. It seems to have coated the heatshield quite well so fingers crossed it stays black this time. I would avoid and go for the Plastikote brand as far as this product goes.Date published: 2014-01-08Rated 5 out of 5 by Geo66 from Halford High temp paints The paint performed as expected tho it ws a little confusing as this is the matt finish and not the gloss. Otherwise worked perfectly and the final coat looked professional even tho I did it all myself.Date published: 2013-09-26Rated 3 out of 5 by Werditgo from Dries Grey As other reviewers have stated it dries grey. Used on a motorcycle exhaust ground back to bare metal with flap wheel & wire cup brush in grinder...till shiny. Wiped with meths to clean & degrease, left to dry. Hung up in warm shed & sprayed. It looked great when wet, deep black semi-matt shortly after application, but it has dried back an hour later to a mid grey. Hope it goes black again when baked by engine heatDate published: 2013-07-29
