Thule Wing Bar 961 (Pack of 2) is rated out of 5 by 49.Rated 5 out of 5 by Bodger62 from Quality item Good quality components that won't break the first time they are used. Worth paying the extra for. Easy to fit.Date published: 2017-02-14Rated 5 out of 5 by HappyWanderer from Excellent Roof Bar This roof bar is very well designed, well made and looks good on the car, only driven up to 60mph with them on so far, very quiet, could not hear them even with the window open!. Well worth the money. My only gripe is that Thule have a problem with continuity of design across the range, the Thule Cycle Carrier Clamps do not fit this Roof Bar, T Track Bolts have to be used which is ok but they have to be left in place, consequently when the cycle carriers are not being used they are left behind in the rack looking quite ugly, also the Thule Roof Box cannot be fitted without removing these T track Bolts which is a right palaver!Date published: 2017-01-24Rated 5 out of 5 by HappyRover from Excellent Roof Bars I bought these for my Mondeo Estate, they fit perfectly (with the lockable Foot Kit) they are very sturdy and look good not like some bars which look like an after thought. My only gripe is that the Thule Freeride 532 Cycle Carrier clamps do not fit these roof bars, you have to utilise some small bolt fittings that fit in a track on the roof bar, when the Cycle Carrier(s) are not attached these bolts are left behind looking quite ugly. How about some across the range design thinking Thule? Also the Instruction book is absolutely useless, took me quite a while to realise that half the instructions do not apply to this model and I'm used to dealing with drawings and instructionsDate published: 2017-01-15Rated 5 out of 5 by JerC from Worth the few pounds extra I bought these for my 2016 passat estate and was not disappointed. I have purchased cheaper bars in the past and the constant whistling and buffeting has been really annoying. I bought these after reading many reviews and these bars are really quiet. I opened the window at motorway speeds and would never have guessed I had them fitted. They were a little fiddly to fit with the brackets and feet, but once assembled can quickly be removed from the car and stored in the boot. The feet grip the roof rails like limpets and do not mark them unlike others I have used on my other cars.Date published: 2017-01-05Rated 1 out of 5 by odins2 from Style over Substance Look very Pretty but the rubber inserts move if there is any lateral movement with a load knocking the flimsy end inserts loose. The bars themselves move too easily from side to side if you have a load on. Had to epoxy resin the rubbers and end stops to stop them moving. A very expensive mistake!! Don't do the same.Date published: 2016-12-02Rated 5 out of 5 by Tristar705 from Thule Wing Bars Just bought these to replace square bars. They work better for securing Thule took bike racks and vey little 'wind' noise compared to square bars. Remember square bar accessories do not fit wing bars so it is worth keeping square bars if you are replacing themDate published: 2016-08-04Rated 4 out of 5 by Renard10 from Thule wing bars Does what it says on the box, very quiet up to 69mph, gets noisy at 70. Probably gets noiser after that, who knows. Easy to fit Thule bases to both my different cars so saves me buying two sets of bars. Have fitted two different boxes with Thule fitting kit but my Halford's cycle carriers needed cut down rubber door stops to act as thick washers to provide distance between the cycle carrier bolts and the Wing Bars. Very versatile.Date published: 2016-06-29Rated 4 out of 5 by NicknameAdam from Wind noise test I tested the Wing Bars without the rubber grip strips installed and there was instantly wind noise at 50mph. I then installed the rubber strips and no wind noise even at high speed. I then took off the rubber strips and installed three Thule ProRide roof mounted bike carriers using the "T" mounting and again wind noise. I then sacrificed the rubber strips by cutting them up and placing them between the bike carriers and no wind noise even at high speed and also surprisingly little reduction in mpg. I have purchased replacement rubber grip strips for when I install a roof box for summer holidays. I hope you find this useful.Date published: 2016-06-02
