Rated 3.9 out of 5┬áby 243 reviewers.Rated 5 out of 5┬áby Andy5423 Still worth buying a GPS It does come with an older version of the software so updating it to the latest is certainly worth while which can be done by connecting the unit to a PC. Really good UI in terms of communicating directions and a very clear display. Also very impressed with its route planning, its already shown me some good short-cuts to locations I've driven to for many years and each time its saved me time. Also very pleased with the lifetime traffic and map updates. Considered just using my mobile phone app, but having a good car mount, clear voice and dedicated device made it worth buying the GPS instead of installing the tomtom app on my phone. 20 July 2016Rated 4 out of 5┬áby borid tom tom 5000 Not used it much been away for a few weeks, couldn't, update it when I got it needed a memory card so had to buy one. Got an 8g one and all ok hopefully. Need to try and update it. 19 July 2016Rated 4 out of 5┬áby User53 Go 5000 This product has a fast connection time to the gps system and a good quick reroute system 17 July 2016Rated 5 out of 5┬áby Stuartyboy01 Very good Easy to use, great screen, the preview of your motorway exit and advanced lane guidance is a great feature. It redirected me when the motorway was closed, the traffic updates have been very accurate so far. It feels well built, the mount is really good and it connects very quickly. Read a few reviews myself before buying which said it takes hours to update and the memory is too small. You can buy a memory card for it however, if like me you are only travelling around the UK you only need to update the UK map and not the European one. This will save memory and dramatically reduce the update time. If I had one bad thing to say, it's that the voice commands aren't that great, although it might just be my Scottish accent. I did start arguing with it once or twice. That being said I haven't had it long and haven't really used voice control too much. In summary, very happy. By diverting me around a closed M6 and avoiding a MASSIVE queue, in my eyes it's already paid for itself. 12 June 2016Rated 1 out of 5┬áby NonnyM Has its faults if you are used to the older TomTom. The Good Stuff; Fast routing, Good traffic information, Ability to offer different routes, Clear display. Oh Dear Stuff. Swipe controls four icons to a screen, the order can be altered but still takes a lot of finger work, too much to do if driving Previous TTs had six icons per screen and was easily navigated through the menu. If I had of known, I Probably Would Not Have Brought It Stuff. POIs and Routes have to be loaded via the internet MyDrive program. If you are out of internet range. You are up the road without directions, (Up River ---No Paddle.) YOUR POIs are displayed by one universal icon. So you cannot tell if the icon represents a Petrol station that sells Autogas, a Nation Trust property, Camp site or RSPB site. POIs do not seem to display when driving, only available for choosing a go to destination. Choosing a POI to go to is difficult because the menu system has a mind of its own when in operation. You cannot load POIs and / or routes without an internet connection. Biggest Moan is that the TT is meant to be a navigation device. BUT if I want to change part of the route, I have to put a Stop in, and then remove it as I pass it. The previous TTs could differentiate between a Stop (as in I will stop here to throw off a parcel) and a Waypoint ( as I can drive past this point, but it will be ignored after a few hundred metres) The current Stop systems keeps routing back to the Stop point unless cancelled. Which is; a) Several icon pushes b) Bloody dangerous if you are driving. c) Should I pull over on the hard shoulder just to amend my route? d) Or suffer the voice telling me to U turn at every junction, until the stop is cancelled. I liked TomToms, at least the previous generation, which were easily configured. But this generation is wide of the mark on a number of accounts. It would seem the design brief was; ""Let us completely forget what we have done before (despite it being probably the best on the market). Let us build a SatNav for the Snowflake generation (Google it if not sure ;- ) ) and if changes are wanted, we might consider changing, maybe """ Short and Sweet Its an OK for an A to B route, Not OK if you want to do your own thing. Rgds 11 June 2016Rated 4 out of 5┬áby Lostatnight This product makes me feel secure I got lost late at night when trying to go to a B&B and my mobile phone was down. I spent hours trying to find my way only to find the B&B closed and no one answered so ended up doing a 6 hour return journey hoping that I would see hotel on way back. Road closed so nightmare return. I brought this so did not need to rely on phone for alerts and also so that this would not happen again. I have only tried on short journeys but if put in home address or other will get you there as far as can see. I will await another long journey to see how it words and not sure that travel update work as yet. 09 June 2016Rated 5 out of 5┬áby Johnboy17 ToMTom go live 5000- Works well and it had helped me avoid traffic on a couple of occasions so far, it is early days to give a full review as I only used it about 6 times so farÔÇŽ 09 June 2016Rated 3 out of 5┬áby javodine1939 good quality, but. I am disappointed with the Go 5000,due to some problems with the speed camera warnings, the Go 5000 misses the majority of them,I contacted TomTom and they downloaded them again for me,but there are still many speed cameras missing, the quality and build of the 5000 is good as is the size of the screen.but the images on the screen are not as bright and colourful as my old Go 520.I also miss the ability to enter my own points of interest.I feel that TomTom should have kept many of the original settings,an old saying is,if it is not broken don't fix it,in this case to my mind TomTom have produced an inferior product than many of the older original versions. TomTom, you could do much better, after all you used to make some of the best sat navs on the market. 11 May 2016
