ford oil excellent reserved on line all ready to pick up at store.oil seems to be just as good as Ford and much cheaper...only drawback is that the bottle is not calibrated so putying 4.25 litres into an engine is a bit of a performance but at the price worth the hassle 02 October 2010

Confused

I drive a 2007 Mazda RX8, having used the oil locator and checked the charts you have in store I am told I can use Halfords 5w-30 part synthetic oil. However my Mazda owners manual advises that part or fully synthetic oil should not be used. Can you help?

If it was me I'd stick with the advice from the manual - The Rotary engine in the RX8 is unlike any other and Mazda are the only manufacturers to use it so they are the experts! Maybe look on an RX8 owners forum for advice?

For some reason Mazda recommend a mineral based 5W/30 for this vehicle which is a combination that is more or less impossible to achieve hence the confusion caused by the statement included in the handbook. Halfords 5W/30 Part Synthetic Oil is the closest match from the Halfords range to the product that Mazda themselves supply for this vehicle and should therefore be perfectly suitable for this application however, if you are left in any doubt then you can always contact the main dealer for their recommended product on this occasion.

I bought Halfords 5W/30 Part Synthetic Oil 5L Cat code: 172304-0 for my Mazda but I'm not sure is it good enough for it. It is recommended for latest Ford engines and I know Ford=Mazda but I’m still wondering to use it or not. Is it suitable for my car? Thank you.
P.S. What is the difference between “semi-“ and “part-“ synthetic? Is the “part-“ mean 50:50 like “semi-“?

My records show that from 2002 onwards Mazda were recommending a 5W30 product that met the ACEA A1 and B1 specifications. The 5W30 product you have bought meets these so should be fine.
