Hammerite Rust Remover Gel is recommended for use on any areas of rust so effectively this will be ok under a car. The best method will be to leave for 15-20 minutes if nesseray repeat by using a brush working with additional gel as necessary at 30 minute intervals for a period of 2 to 3 hours or until rust is removed. To remove rust to bare metal use rust remover gel or dip otherwise use kurust which will not remove the rust but will stabilize it for smooth painting. Any suitable paint can be used after the rust has been removed.

It is safe to use but it may be more effective to start with Halfords steel wool then use Halfords Rubbing Compound in this case. This will remove the surface rust but if the chrome plating has been corroded underneath it will not bring back the original shine.
