Really good value for money The Bikehut Dry Teflon Lube does exactly what it says on the tin. Lubes and protects your chain and all other moving parts. Once applied and allowed to soak in, the gear change become a lot smoother and quiter in operation. The surface rust from recent wet wether seemed to be lifted off and easy to wipe away. The delivery service was absolutely first class. 22 July 2012
Also suitable for door locks I recently had a new composite front door fitted and in the Maintenance section of the brochure it advises lubricating the lock barrel with Teflon Based Lubricant. I searched high and low for such a lubricant and found it in this product. I ordered it over the internet, it arrived next day and was £1.50 cheaper than visiting the shop and included post and packing. 26 June 2012
Better than GT85 Have been using GT85 spray every week or so on my chain in the winter, that worked quite well. Tried applying this the day after using the GT85 and it is sooo much better. Super smooth chain movement and I can't hear myself change gear either. I'll be using this from now on. 04 January 2012
Good product Does exactly what I was after. I use it on my fold-up bike rather than a wet lube to minimise any mess from the lubricant attracting dust/grit. 11 December 2011
Good Stuff Great product, does exactly what it says on the tin! 08 April 2011
dry lube review I find that the dry teflon lube works really well in both wet and dry conditions. Make sure you give the chain a good clean before applying and give it a wipe to get rid of the excess. It keeps my chain, derailier and cassette all turning really well and shifting is excellent. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants a good lube that works in all conditions. 10 March 2011
Good stuff I bought this because the oil on my chain attracted dust and grit so always needed cleaning after every ride in dry weather This stuff is great chain stays clean and grit free for ages plus you only need to use a small amount. I just switch to oil lube for rainy days now 12 December 2009

Answer:
Thank you for your question about wood type. I am using 12mm baltic birch plywood for clock gears. I am going to seal the gears with shellac before trying a teflon lubricant.
I have discovered that I have cut one of the gears too small, so I am going to try using teflon on it to see if there is any adverse effect.

My answer is more like to another question, what wood is the model? Look up what finishes the wood can take and then you may find your answer, one example of problems is that Danish Oil should not be used on teak and beech will warp if oiled with certain oils, I hope this is of some help.

Answer:
Bikehut teflon Dry lube is designed for use on non-porous materials. The solvent base evaporates quickly at room temperature leaving a coating of Teflon lubricant on the surfaces. Because wood is porous there is a good chance that the solvent will be absorbed into the wood before evaporation causing discolouration or distortion. Obviously distortion would be a major problem with the close fit required in gears. I have done a quick web search and found this site http://www.cabaret.co.uk/dugs-autom... . It is an information page by a guy who makes wooden clocks and he recommends using a soft pencil (e.g. 2B) to leave a layer of graphite to act as a lubricant. The Bikehut teflon Dry lube may work but has not been tested for this purpose.

Does this product protect in the wet as well as the dry - or would you have to check the weather forecast before riding your bike with it? And if not (or not much) then would you need to remove the lubricant before applying a wet lubricant?

Answer:
I find that it does work well in the wet. I tend to stay away from wet lubricant as they tend to attract a lot more dirt and clog up the drive system. you shouldn't need to remove the dry lube to apply the wet. but you should give your chain etc a good wipe over to remove most of the dirt as the lube wont stick.

Answer:
The Bikehut Dry Teflon Lube will be fine to use in the wet, it does not resist "Washing off" as well as a fully wet lube but will provide adequate protection and attract much less grit/contamination. For maximum protection re-apply after cleaning your cycle.
