Halfords Vauxhall 'Star Silver' car spray paint

The Halfords Vauxhall 'Star Silver' car spray paint is an exact match for the Vauxhall codes: 88L, 88U, 138.

It provides a tough, durable protective finish on metal, glass fibre or rigid plastic panels and the advanced acrylic based formulation, which is compatible with virtually all types of automotive paint finishes, including cellulose.

Preparation is always the key to a successful project, take your time to clean, treat any rust, rub down and mask the area. You will need to purchase a grey primer and apply at least two coats of the primer to ensure optimum adhesion and to give the best finish.

When you are ready to apply the paint, build up the colour with several thin coats, rubbing down with wet and dry sandpaper in between coats to ensure a professional finish. For metallic and pearlescent colours it is essential to purchase a lacquer, which will give a high gloss finish to solid colours.

Additional Information

NB. A clear lacquer must be used on metallic and pearlescent paints to achieve the best finish and correct colour match.

To find the manufacturer's colour code, look for the identification plate. In most cases this will be under the bonnet, in the boot or inside the driver's side door frame.

Hi, thanks for your interest in Halfords Vauxhall 'Star Silver' Car Spray Paint 300ml. Yes it can be used on wheels. Make sure its fully cleaned, degreased and primed first. Two cans should be enough for 4 wheels. Finish with a clear lacquer. Hope this helps.

I have a vaxhall corsa 1.2 1999 3 doors silver (body coloured bumpers) with black pieces of exterior trim will I be able to touch up the paint on my corsa and also spray paint the black plastics trim pieces a matching colour?

Answer: 
Use Halfords Enamel Adhesion Promotor (online code 156680), if applied prior to the colour-coat it will ensure
excellent adhesion to the plastic trim. It is absolutely essential that the trim is
thoroughly cleaned/degreased before the adhesion aid is applied. Any
trace of silicone trim dressings etc will cause it to fail. We
recommend using a solvent based cleaner such as Halfords surface cleaner spray
(online code 451658) - Apply directly to a cloth and wipe over the surface. The black plastic trim on bumpers is often textured so you'll get a textured paint finish unless you sand the plastic down first.

If you obtain the relevant paint code from the vehicle and take this to store we can produce a match on our in-house mixing system. Please note this is not available at all stores.
