Deore 9 speed rear mech' I wanted this as it's a good level in the Shimano range without being too fragile for heavy use in "Off the Beaten Track" cycle touring. I have Deore on one of my other bikes so was confident in choosing this one. The situation changed and I realised that I needed other parts more urgently. The Halfords branch I dealt with were fine about me returning the mech' unused and taking other equipment in it's place, Thanks. 18 November 2011

Can I upgrade with this derrailleur, I have an Apollo FS 26.se Mountain Bike, with full suspension and front and rear disc brakes. I know it is only 7 speed, but will I be ok to upgrade without having to purchase any upgrades etc?

Answer: 
This is not a recommended fitment, as the 9 speed derailleur is too narrow for the 7speed chain. Ideally, you will need a 7/8 speed derailleur.

hi basically i have broke off the derailleur from my bike where it has broke off from it looks like a aluminium cast bracket dont know the technical name is this included or can i buy it seperatly , i know from asking that this is supposed to break if under strain.

This is called the gear hanger and prevent the frame from being broken, a replacement hanger is available to order from your local Halfords store
