gets your car going I ended up taking this battery back and bought the most expensive one believe it or not there is one big difference when connecting this battery and the expensive Bosch one the car drives a lot more smoother and has instant start when you put the key in (you can tell the difference) but i recommend the better Bosch one over this one (if you are looking for a cheap and cheerful way to get your motor back on the road this is it if you are looking for a superior drive go for the Bosch one ) of course if you can afford it too .over all This is well recommended for a budget battery 28 May 2012

Electric - form a box - wow! what next. It's a car battery. It is heavy and black and starts my car. It has two terminals to connect to vehicle! Don't drop it on your foot or short it with a spanner. Also make a useful door stop. 22 May 2012

It can be fitted to MX5 My MX5 is an early MkII, August 1998. The original battery was the thin Panasonic, which failed in 2 years. The replacement Panasonic lasted 6 years but I then replaced it with similar sized Halfords HB038 which failed in 4 years. The HB063 is widely available now. Although wider it is shorter than original and height is OK. It will just fit into battery well, if plastic tray is discarded. I sat it on 15mm hard polystyrene foam and wedged it. The top clamp is designed for the narrow Panasonic, so it had to be flattened and modified a bit to hold the HB063 securely. It is a snug fit but OK. Polarity of terminals is same as original. Have only just fitted it, so remains to be seen how long it lasts! 04 April 2012

No hassle battery replacement Ordered on-line and ready when I collected an hour later. Wanted for my daughter's old car. Appears a quality battery and time will tell. More than Kwik-Fit battery but tend to trust Halfords more to provide a good price/quality deal. 28 February 2012

No, this will not fit into the boot well of a 2005. Please check that your car is a Mark 1 as they didn't manufacture Mark 1s in 2005.

Yes the battery is not oversized so it will fit.
If you purchace a larger battery, then it wouldn't fit into the 'Well'.

Yes it is a sealed battery.
It's still charged up in the normal way.
You can charge on 'Normal' but any battery is always best charged on 'Low' over 24 hours, this prevents over heating and buckling the plates.
Always do a low charge for a longer period if possible.

It is a sealed battery. No idea what setting you need on your charger but conventional fixed voltage charger works for me.
