My car is a Vauxhall Corsa 04 plate - Energy twinport with an engine size of 998.

I typed my car reg in onto the online halfords oil finder/guide and it's come up with three different types of oil (0w40, 5w40 and 10w40) .. which one is it or can I use any of these?

Will anything happen, for example, if it's currently got 5w40 and I top it up with 10w40?

Many thanks in advance.

Answer:
Manufacturers often allow for more than one type of oil for their vehicles hence there is more than one recommendation on our website for your 2004 Vauxhall Corsa 1.0. If you know which grade of oil is already
in your vehicle, perhaps from the service book or from the garage that services the vehicle, then it would be best to top up with something similar however all the oils in question will meet the manufacturers specifications so there shouldn't be any adverse effects were you to top up with a different grade. If you are in any doubt as to the suitability of a product then you can always check in the handbook for the oil specifications that are permitted by the manufacturer for your vehicle.

Answer:
Oil created artificially in lab/factory is called synthetic oil. Part synthetic oil means the oil consists of part naturally occuring oil(fossil fuel) + part synthetic oil.

Synthetic oil does not break down like natural oil and hence does not require as frequent oil change.

Staff Answer
Answer:
The oil is made from a combination of natural mineral oils and man-made synthetic oil. Synthetic Oils provide a wider functional temperature range and a longer lifespan for the oil.
As always you should refer to your vehicle handbook or contact your local store to confirm the most appropriate oil for your vehicle.
