Thule 697 T Track Adaptor Product Description

The Thule 697 T Track Adaptor is for use with Thule roof bars and accessories. The T Track Adaptor can be added to your roof box to fit it directly into the t-slot of the load bar, and creates a secure yet flexible fit.

did the job this is wht you need to fit a roof box to aero bars if your old fittings are for narrow bars. ridiculously expensive for a few screws but it does the job. Fiddly to fix the box on on to bars now and i find it needs 2 of us to get it in place but it is great when on - much cleaner fittings. 16 April 2012
Thule 697 roofbox adaptor kit Bought an Alpine 500 roofbox but had 860 aerobars fitted. Good job I bought this adaptor kit as the standard roofbox fittings dont fit aerobars only square bars. Saved me a big headache getting the roofbox home from Ascot! 04 February 2011

Answer: 
This is the Thule 697 T Track Adaptor which is suitable for use with Thule Aero or Wing Bars for attaching Liberty, Alpine and older types of roof boxes. The required slots in the t-track must be 20mm and the centre to centre holes provided in your roof box must be 50mm. If it is either the Thule 697-4 or Thule 697-5 that you require, they are available to order from your local Halfords store who can order them in for you via the special order service and will be able to advise cost

I have a Halfords roof box with 50mm U bolts, but this does not fit my Thule wing bars. Would the Thule t-track 697 adaptor be suitable?

All of our modern boxes come with 80mm U Bolts, so we are guessing that your roof box is probably at least 7 or 8 years old. We spoke to Thule on your behalf, and they suggest that it might be better to buy a standard halfords roof box fitting kit (138738) and drill a hole 30mm away from the existing holes in the box. They said it was important to make sure there was at least a 25mm gap from the other holes, to ensure the structural rigidity of the box. You could then use the new 80mm U bolt, without the need for a t-track adaptor. This would avoid any modifications being made to your new wing bars. For further advice, please pop into your local Halfords store, or contact Thule on 01440 760000.

Car is 2009 (59 plate) Ford Mondeo Estate without roof rails. Genuine Ford Roof Bars are fiited (part No 1724806). Roof Box is old Thule Alpine 700 with 50mm U-Bolts.
