Connects2 IGNI-GEN universal CAN-BUS ignition feed generator for fitting aftermarket head units & handsfree kits to cars.

IGNI-GEN will switch on the ignition output if it detects that the engine has been running for a few seconds. It will switch off again a few seconds after the engine stops. The exact timing will vary dependant on the vehicle's electrical system.

The learning process only needs to be carried out once at the time of installation as the unit stores a permanent record of the information it aquires. The information is still retained even if the unit is disconnected from the battery. The unit will only need to be reprogrammed if changes are made to the electrical system of the vehicle, such as changing the alternator or the battery.

Useful device This is ideal for deriving an ignition feed for accesories such as navigation, camera detectors and phone kits. I used it for a heated seat kit, but you must use a relay if you need more than 300ma current draw, (which I did). This unit does not connect to the Can Bus, it has a conection to a permanant live and ground, and then senses when the engine is running by the increase in voltage. Works a treat and is easy to program. However, it is not out on display in the stores, and you have to get them to have a look in their installation parts out the back. The only thing to remember is unit will not provide a feed if the engine is not running. 06 January 2010
