A mech / gear hanger is a small part which can be found between your rear mech / derailleur and your frame. This part is designed as a weak point so, should you have an accident or drop your bike it minimises damage to your frame or rear mech / derailleur. It is designed to break before either of these much more expensive components. The Halfords Replacement Gear Hanger A is simple to fit, however, should you have any concerns at all please visit your local store who can fit it for your at a reasonable cost.

Some bike models appear under 2 gear hanger desctriptions - this is due to different mech hangers being used on batches of bikes.  Therefore please compare the image with your current mech hanger to be sure you order the correct one.  If you have any concerns at all please visit your local Halfords store where a colleague will be able to give you advice and order in the part.

i have been given this bike and it is missing the hanger. i do not have one to compare with the image and there is no names of the models of apollo this will fit even though apollo is named in the item title??

This hanger will fit a majority of Apollo's from 2009 onwards. However, the XC26* may accept an older style of hanger depending on its production year. In this instance I would recommend taking your bike to your local Halfords store where a trained member of staff will be able to advise you further.
