Apollo Slant Mountain Bike - 20"
I bought this bicycle three months ago, I have used it for everyday cycling to school, and to the shops, I have never used it off-road,
In the duration of these three months I have had the bottom bracket bearings replaced twice and have had to fix the rear wheel bearings, the bike has also developed a buckle in the rear wheel.
Also the front suspension has started squeaking when in use even though I have put quite a bit of grease on it.
Overall I am not happy with this bike and I will be replacing it in the near future.

Fairly cheap price for a gents bike, but quality of product is very poor with poor build quality.
Would not recommend this bike.

Good value my 4 week use report
Had this bike for four weeks now and I have ridden a combination of road and off road. Its a lot of bike for the money to be honest and I like the front suspension, the twist grip gear change and the allow wheels. For a steel framed bike its not too heavy and considering the bike comes with a six week service its a good buy. Prpobobally would not suit the serious rider but for some exercise and "messing about" its ideal.
That said I have the following negative feedback
Took it back to Halfords today as the pedals were "sloppy" in use, had the crank checked for tightness in the store and it was ok so probobally needs new bearings after four weeks of use
The cable for the front deraileur was clamped under the nut as opposed the head of the bolt and came loose, so check yours if you have or are going to buy one
Although it has 18 gears if you are going down hill or an incline you dont have to go that fast before you cant pedal in 18th gear to increase speed so the gear ratios are low, which paradoxically suits people like me who have not been on a bike for a while and have to start in the "granny" gear again
The forks front forks are white and makes the bike look like the manuafacture ran out of black ones but had white left in stock
I hope my bike issues are "one offs" and when I get it back it prooves to be reliable and the good but I thought at first

You get what you pay for!
I bought this bike in December 2010 and to be fair it performed well for a few months. Then the back wheel buckled for no apparent reason - apparently I must have "hit a bump", which for a bike pertaining to be a "mountain bike" is pretty pathetic. This was fixed, only to do exactly the same a day or 2 later. When servicing the bike the comment I received was along the lines of "what do you expect for that kind of money"? The bike now has a recurring problem whereby it will slow down for no apparent reason, I have decided to cut my losses and buy a new one. Beware!

Good bike but be wary
Bought this bike about 1 month ago and have ridden the bike about 3 times a week to and from the gym. I got the Halfords bike team to set up and build the bike as I wanted peace of mind that it would be built properly. Everything had been going well until my handlebars started coming loose. I have fallen off once due to this problem. However, this has been the only issue that I have with the bike, so I would recommend it but just be wary of the build quality.

good first bike
First bike I have ever bought and I am glad it was this one. Suspension, brakes, tyres and gears are all good. My only complaint is that it comes with a hard seat so I may have to replace it in the near future.

Bought my Slant 9 months ago. Ridden 5 days a week on road and some (not rough) off road. I do just over 11 miles a day, so getting on for 2200 miles now. Constant work required, replaced tyres, brake blocks, front derailier, v brakes and pedals.
Halfords said its a well made bike but its cost a lot to keep it going and today have yet again adjusted the bottom bracket and found the rear cones have had it alog with a spoke broken on the back wheel so more expense coming.
All the parts I have replaced either broke or wore out, might have been better to spent more money on a better bike to start with.
