The digital radio signal currently covers the majority of motorways and A roads. The coverage begins to get patchier on B roads.

Very frustrating Now had 2 of these, first one stopped working after 5 mins, second one after about a week of occasional use. The concept is great & the performance is fine whilst they're working, real shame the reliability is so poor. I do hope Sonichi resolve their quality issues, this item would be fantastic but needs to last longer than a few minutes or hours of operation. 07 September 2012
Surprisingly Good After reading the other reviews I decided to go for it when the 20 quid was knocked off, but was still a bit sceptical... It is however a really good piece of kit for the money, the reception is as good as can be expected with stations only dropping out on high ground, typically where you would lose FM anyway. The dash mount is very good, and has been stuck on my dash for a month now without falling off. The only niggle, as mentioned by other reviews is the aerial lead which falls out every now and again and is pretty fiddly. The unit could have done with an all in one plug for power audio and aerial rather than 3 individual ones, as you have to remove them all when you take it out the car. It's quick to scan for stations, switches between stations quickly, and has plenty of presets which are easy to access. Overall a good value item. 28 July 2012

returned it was told that would not need aritenna but reception was poor and there was no alternative to the magnetic one so would have had to open the window and put it on the roof this is 2012 and not the cb crazz of the 1970s 22 May 2012
Great DAB Radio So simple to install and set up. Antenna cable very long so the antenna can be at the rear of the roof. Nice thin antenna cable so easy to route. Once installed I had it up and running in less that one minute!. Great to have all those added Dab channels in my car. 20 May 2012
Sonichi S1000 Digital Radio Adaptor This DAB Radio is very easy to install even for a novice like me. The sound quality is far superior to my FM Radio. I agree with the other people who have commented that the aeriel socket is not good enough and the lead tends to fall out sometimes. Overall I am satified with this DAB unit and would recommend it to others. 14 May 2012
easy DAB Great product, an easy way to add DAB to the car stereo. All you need is in the kit. Thought I would get away without using the supplied mag mount external antenna as it tuned and worked as soon as I plugged it in. Doddle to set up and sounds great. Had to fit the external antenna as I had a few drop out on the signal. Ran the antenna wire from dash round door frame and roof covering in the rubber and out the back hatch seal. Took 10 mins. Worked well after that. Unit fits in the coin hatch on right of steering wheel on my modeo out of sight. Power lead fits in cigarette lighter socket and reaches about half way across dash. Very pleased, easy to use. 13 May 2012
It really does work well. This DAB radio for the car works really well. Complete with having the provided external aerial attached, the reception is faultless even when driving long distances. The aerial attachment to the the radio must have been designed by someone having an off-day, as it is so feeble, it could and should have been so much better. Attaching the radio to the car has been a bit of a problem. In my car the sucker only works on the windows, which obstructs the view, so have used the sticky pad, which I feel might not hold when interior gets hot. Otherwise, as said before, it works really well. 08 May 2012

My Sonichi 1000 has suddenly started to have reception problems.I have purchased a new dab Ariel but this has had no effect.I want to try a software upgrade but cannot find out how.Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Why is it I have commented about the need to buy an additional right angled MMCX lead to avoid the aerial lead from falling out a lot of times? Why do Halfords or Sonichi NOT include one in the pack as it is needed. Failing that if you don't like me mentioning a well known auction site why does Halfords not sell the needed lead. It's pathetic you delete my review because you don't like what I put about the aerial. Otherwise the DAB unit is fantastic. Come on guys, many people have mentioned the aerial problem.

With regard to the Halfords web Team awnser I have installed the Sonichi unit on it's back flat down on a panel only secured by Velcro. It will not move at all. With the aerial that was secured tight to stop all movement in the cable but still the lead fell out/loose. So unfortunatly your idea does not resolve the problem. Just to really make my point my partner has purchased the same Sonichi DAB unit & she is using it with the supplied bracket, exactly the same, aerial randomly falls out despite it being secured into the bracket. Again a right angled MMCX connector has fixed the problem. Are you sure one is'nt needed?

"Many thanks for your feedback on the positive experience you have been having with the performance of the Sonichi S1000DAB adaptor. However we are as disappointed as you to hear that you are having issues with the connection between the unit and the supplied antenna. We have taken this on board.

Different users choose to mount the product in their own vehicle environment in many different ways affecting how the product interacts with both it's surroundings and the way in which items such as the antenna and power supply connect. Cable routing and the stability of the mounting location so as to avoid vibration are key factors

In your original feedback you indicated that you had not mounted the unit with the supplied bracket, instead opting to place it in another location using Velcro. The unit has been designed to mount using the supplied cradle, which features recesses within it's design to hold the power and antenna cables firm, which in turn alleviates allot of the issues you have identified in your own installation. The mounting bracket and cradle also provide a stable base for the unit in the car, whereas hook and loop fastenings do introduce a degree of flexibility to the union between the device and it's mounting location, which in turn can cause unwanted movement.

Halfords do not supply an additional adaptor from the straight connection on the end of the supplied antenna cable to right angled connector for a number of reasons. The angled MMCX adaptor is not required in most installations, it would add additional cost to all customers, most of whom would not require it, something we always aim to avoid and it would also introduce additional resistance into the antenna circuit which could negatively affect signal performance.

As for the clip, I don't know however I used Velcro to stick mine to the centre console.

ie. is it a window stick on arial, Magnetic arial that sticks to roof of car or another style. Also how long are arial cables.

Can spare arials be purchased so it can be switched from car to car?
