The Halfords 14L Electric Coolbox 14 Litre is capable of cooling up to 18°c below the temperature of the air surrounding the coolbox. It is ideal for transporting chilled food with you on the way to a picnic or a day out. You can also use it to keep frozen food chilled on the way home from the supermarket.

The electric coolbox is powered from the car's 12v accessory socket and can hold up to 17 330ml cans. The lid is also designed so that it can accommodate the height of a 2 litre bottle.

Cool Box Cool box is noisy and drips water everywhere. Not as good as previous models I have purchased from Halfords. As this was the only electric cool box there was no other option as I needed it for my lorry. Would not buy a cool box from Halfords again. 20 April 2012

Great small coolbox every Ideal for people who need to keep food/drinks cool but still have room for other luggage. I bought this for my husband to use in his HGV as he is away all week and this is large enough for milk and food for sandwiches and the occasional ready meal. 13 September 2011
get more than you pay for Anyone expecting a super fridge for GBP35 is not living in the real world. This is a cool box, it keeps things a bit cooler than the outside temperature and if you are on a long journey it will keep your food fresher than it would have been had it been left in the boot. If you want a compressor fridge then you are going to have to pay at least ten times more. So you get what you pay for. 14 litres may seem small but it is not. For me, it is too big. I am stuffing it with things I do not really need cool. 12v will cool it down - eventually. So get a mains adaptor - which I think you can use for other things as well. It will cool to 18 degrees below ambient. So I presume at 20C there will be no problem. At 35C - at best it is going down to 17C inside but I very much doubt it will get anything near that. So effectively it is going to be useful when the temperature is in the twenties. If you are thinking of moving to India you need a compressor fridge. I have already had a couple of accidents and can confirm that it cleans very easily. But one lesson I learned is to make sure it is secure in your vehicle. Use luggage to stop it moving around. It makes a bit of noise - when you are driving you do not really hear it though. I do not think that I would want to sleep in the vehicle with it on. I turned it off at night because of the noise although it may not bother some people. There is no thermostat - so it is running all the time! However it needs to be turned off when you are not moving - if you don't intend to continue your journey. It will completely drain the leisure battery it around ten hours - (assuming a 90A battery, half life = 45A running at around 3.5A per hour + 20% inefficiency). It needs lots of ventilation too. Common sense dictates that if you leave it in a hot boot it is not going to be very effective. This cool box gives you the freedom to shop at a superstore and take your picnic wherever you are going. Helpful gadget! This is a good product the only concern is it tips over in my vehicle around bends so needs wedging in. The build quality is good and keeps things nice and cool! 30 April 2011
well worth the money used the coolbox for a weekend away, charged it up on thursday, travelled on Friday with it connected to the car, unplugged friday afternoon, cans of drink stayed cold until i unloaded it on sunday afternoon!. a bit noisey in the car, so i turned up the radio. 23 March 2011

The Halfords Electric 12V Coolboxes work from in-car power sockets. Most vehicles have power to their 12V socket either when the ignition is off or when the ignition is in the accessory position, therefore on most vehicles this will work without the engine running. You should not leave the electric coolbox running for extended periods without the engine running as this will drain the vehicles battery possibly to the point where the vehicle will not start.

This coolbox is only suitable for use with 12v. We would recommend converting the 24v lorry supply to 12v using an inverter.
