mobile dab Thought about getting a car dab for some time, glad i did.Everything i needed was in the box, inc the wiring harness. Easy to fit,easy to set up,easy to use.Fitted to a Chevrolet Kalos in less than 20 mins.Dab nice and clear and easy to tune and store.Cd player / usb and front socket for your ipod etc.All in all good value for the money 03 August 2012

Philips DAB CD Radio Great unit as a entry level into DAB in car radio. Curls of plastic were still attached on the CD slot of the front plate, and needed tidying up before use. Can link in other music players, its quick enough to change around between modes of play. Does drop out of DAB radio every now and then, but I use the magnetic aerial inside the car, away from vandals. 20 May 2012
Very good value This Dab is easy to operrate from the start and it quite easy to preset the station that is required. Good value for the price and was lucky to get now. 15 May 2012
Philips CEM 2000B DAB CD/MP3 AM/FM Tuner Very pleased with this product, much better than previous reviews suggest. DAB tuner is easy to operate and reception using the supplied aerial is excellent. There is a very small lag when switching between modes but no worse than on other non-DAB head units i've had. Went for the Philips based on brand experience and have not been disappointed. Only gripe is the slightly fiddly presets when using more than 5 selections, but this is a very minor issue. 22 March 2012
No problems Great radio I have not used the antenna that came with it but used a splitter so no messing around with that. In poor signal areas it will lose the station but I think all DAB's are the same. No problems in strong signal areas. Sound fantastic 03 March 2012
Look Elsewhere As stated on ther reviews when driving around it will struggle with signal. About 6 times now in 2 Months I have turned the car ignition on powered up the radio only to find the radio has deleted all my stations therefore I have to scan again. The lack of ipod compatibilitiy is a negative, I used to own a JVC and that was brilliant being able to select tracks, even view currently played track title on the main unit. I consider this feature a basic now on all radios especially considering the price and luxury aspect of this model. I have had problems with the USB aswell 2/4 usb sticks work for apparently no reason at all. I have tried a number of various formatting options for the drives also but as yet to no avail. The manual is useless and only tells you to how to install. It does not have any decent troubleshooting. 10 January 2012
Works... It works well, has great sound quality but hangs quite often between DAB masts, it picks up Yorkshire Radio in Scotland and freezes as there is no signal obviously... This has been fitted into a HGV and works with a parrott kit, but does not have a mute setting so it does not pause CD's etc. which was a disappointment for a branded model like this. 24 October 2011

I have a 16gb usb stick full of mp3 folders. Out of 36 folders, only 27 register and play.
Ive had them all open in list view on the PC to see if there was any pattern with the ones that wouldnt play, most that wouldnt play seemed to be VBR but not all but I assumed that if there was maybe even one VBR file in a folder, the entire folder wouldnt play.
I spent hours converting them all to WAV and now more of them register and play but still not all?!!

Apparently, this unit is supposed to play all bit rates including VBR according to the specs?!!

I was also unimpressed to find these are not actually Philips units, but halfords with a Philips label!!
If id known this, I may aswel have just bought a cheap and nasty halfords own brand, no frills, value range ripspeed unit

It is a Philips unit, not a Halfords own brand unit with a Philips label on it.

MP3 Encoders vary widely in their function and some burn content in a way that some decoders are unable to reconcile. Depending on the source of the content, how it was originally encoded, and using what encoder, even the speed at which the tracks have been copied will all have an influence on the likelihood for introducing errors into the data, which can also have a marked effect on a decoders ability to access the track data and replay it effectively.

There may also be an issue with DRM content and tracks downloaded originally in other codecs such as AAC, then being converted to MP3, with or without VBR, then to WAV and so on.

Unfortunately the number of variables in these scenarios mean that we cannot give a definitive answer, only to say that content copied from an original, reliable, legitimate source using a proprietary encoder should play without issue on the unit. Please note that as a result of the file structure, storage media with greater capacity will result in increased access times as the unit deciphers the content before accessing it to playback.

I bought this radio last week and don't seem to have an antenna in the box. It says online I should have one but it doesnt mention one much in the manual. The DAB signal is really fuzzy and was wondering if it would be enhanced with said missing antena?

Yes it comes with a magnetic DAB aerial that goes on the roof. You shouldn't be able to get any decent DAB reception without it. It's a pain to install but for me reception is great (mine is on the roof at the back)

I have a new Astra with a shark fin integrated aeriel with DAB. The radio is fine however I miss an AUX port that I had in my old car. If I buy this will it connect to the Shark Fin integrated Aeriel for DAB or will I still need the magnetic one attached?

You will need to check the car aerial connector is compatible with the Philips unit.
The Philips unit has an SMB aerial connector on the back of it.
If your aerial connector fits, it should work ok.
