TomTom We gave this a trial test as we set off to go to Bickleigh Castle Tiverton from All Cannings, Wiltshire. Took a few mins to pick up the GPS signal but it was spot on. Tried it again as we took to the M4 at Chippenham and all we got was the msg 'waiting for a valid GPS signal'. It never came. Not impressed with this at all. What do you suggest? Luckily my daughter had her phone and we got to B/C using that. 02 July 2012
Great sat nav for the price If your looking for a cheap sat nav then this is it. It may not come with some of the extra features that it's big brothers have to offer but for the price it's great. Simple to use with a decent size screen. It's easy to program and the directions both audio and visual are easy to understand when you don't know where you are and having to keep your eyes on the road. 10/10 in my book. 18 June 2012
Great product I've never used a Sat Nav before and was a bit sceptical about using one. Once I managed to download and update the maps it took me a few go's to get the hang of setting it up and following it. Now I am used to it its a great sat nav and has helped me no end! Its very easy to use and follow the directions. 30 May 2012

Secluded pubs. Of course while not endorsing drinking and driving, I rediscovered 2 Essex pubs I went to back in the day once or twice and updated my database. It was a painless process using a soothing Aussie voice. 18 May 2012
Tom Tom Start Reserved this as you get the online price and then the product immediately. I was replacing a top end old model Tom tom, this Start model has less features but is much more compact, the directions are better too with lane details etc. Would have been nice if it included a carry bag for protection but I just used the old one from my previous model and it fits the lot in. 18 May 2012
Good, but needed update The Tom Tom Start 20 works much like their previous navigators, but with a larger, higher resolution screen than I've used before. It is neat that it works either way up, and rotates the image to keep it looking right. I suppose I was slightly disappointed that it didn't do portrait mode that older Tom Toms do, and my phone and camera manage to do automatically. The Start 20 can be made to turn on and off automatically when the power turns on or off, but that can be overidden with the on-off switch. Power comes from the USB lead, so to power it at home, just use a computer. The 12V to USB adaptor is very small and neat and can be used for charging phones etc if not needed for the navigator. There is an excellent Brodit clip to mount it on the dashboard, as it is a bit out of reach on the windscreen. The bigest downside was the fact that it didn't work out of the box. It needed the update from the Tom Tom website, which wasn't too difficult but it shouldn't have been needed. Without the update, it would only get a satellite lock after a total reset. If it was then turned off and on, it would never find its positions. It is fine after the update. 15 May 2012
SatNav The Start 20 provides a large screen and practical facilitiews without being cluttered. The improved audio directions with the standard voice are very good a big improvement on the older models. 13 May 2012

Having trouble!!

I just got this tomtom last week and i used it for the first time and i had it on charge in my car and it turned off while i was on the road and when i put it back on it was showing the battery as dead. i charged it on my laptop and it was fine when i headed out again. and the same thing happen. it died on me while on the road with the charger plugged in.

has this happen to anyone??? i will be taking it back to store today to exchange it.

That should be the default setting - you won't see it until you select / start to your destination. If the 2D image is on screen then press the centre of the screen once and it will change to the 3D image as shown on the box lid.
