TomTom Rider Pro + Scala Rider headset The TomTom unit appears very solid and well made while the Scala Rider Bluetooth headset in the kit did not work at all out of the box even if both units charged in accordance to instructions. The TomTom in 2 hours of fiddling I had a total of 6 sec contact with the headset - that is 2 times 3 sec. For this the headset needed to be connected to the charger. The red charging led on the headsets is not on - supposedly the headset should be fully charged. But can not get any life into it without the charger. Holding the on button for 10 secs should switch the device on - does not. I see no other opportunity than retruning this item/kit to Halfords for a full refund. The Scala rider headset appears overall to be of poor quality and does not give an impression of being a device that could work for a long time, even if clear attempts has been made to make it waterproof. Cannot recommend. Consider TomTom alone, badly let down by the Scala Rider headset. 28 June 2012
TomTom rider pro TomTom is excellent, but poor quality scala headset did not work, so returned to cheltenham store over a week ago, new one still has not turned up from TomTom. Friend had same problem may be a faulty batch. 17 January 2012
worth the investment excellant product.. Makes motorcycling easier and is easy to use. i have mine on a sports bike and find the trip features and speed warnings good. navigation is perfect and headset can be heard above the roar of a noisy bike. also very good for the car if you buy the mount. 14 November 2011

I have just purchased a Tom Tom Rider Pro (from another shop) and just returned it as the Cardo headset was not charging.
I am thinking of ordering one now from Halfords, but am very concerned that the Cardo headset will again not work. I see that other people have had problems in the past with the Cardo headset.

Any suggestions or comments please.??

Hi Just got the TomTom with Cardo ScalaRider headset that does NOT work from Halfords. Will return all of it for full refund. The Cardo headset appears to be of very poor quality - even if it would have worked I would not have had the impression that it would work a very long time. Since TomTom is recommending such a poor headset with their Sat Nav they have to accept that they have to take their sat nav back also - as it is sold as a "kit" in one box.
I will not recommend Scala Rider / TomTom to others.

If its not plugged into a power supply it will still work as long as the battery is charged.
It will then only last for the time the battery allows.
