Exodus Roof Mount Cycle Carrier Product Description

The Exodus Roof Mount Cycle Carrier has a lightweight aluminium frame and can safely transport all types of bikes. The carrier is suitable for mountain bikes to race bikes from a 20" wheel diameter.

The cycle carrier is supplied with dual locks for securing the bike to the carrier and also the carrier to the roof bars. It is also City Crash Test approved, meaning it has passed a variety of tests to ensure it is durable and safe to use.

Why Buy a Roof Mounted Carrier?

A roof mounted carrier can be easily attached to the roof of your car provided you have roof bars. This type of carrier is ideal if you want to keep access to the rear of your car free.

Will this carrier fit my car?

You must ensure you have roof bars for your car and then you can easily fit your roof mounted carrier onto the bars.

Fitting Do's and Don'ts

Position the 'A' frame clamp at 45 degrees; place the bike onto the aluminium tray and slide the frame clamp onto the down tube. Use the lever to tighten the clamp, secure the ratchet wheel locators and you are ready to go - but don't forget, full instructions are inside the box.

  • To aid fitment, temporarily slide off the wheel locators prior to mounting the bike in the frame clamp.
  • Most cars are wide enough to take up to four bikes on their roof bars (one carrier per bike).
  • Care must be taken when driving in low places such as garages & multi-storey car parks.

Mostly good, few Niggles This carrier holds bikes very firmly and copes with the kids 24" MTBs and our full size ones. Unfortunately there are a few minor niggles that make using them a bit less easy than it could. These do not detract from the basic functionality. Fitting bikes is a bit of a faff as you have to loosen the clamps off to fit the bikes and then tighten them when they are in (6-turns appears to be about right). This is a stretch overhead and you can't easily remove the keys while the locks are unlocked to make this easier. The endcaps are liable to come loose and if they do then you will lose the straps as well. I recommend you use some black tape to stick the end caps on if you will leave these on the car. If you take the carriers off then some of the roof bar brackets are liable to get lost as they are not fixed to the rack. Also the long bolts supplied are a bit long to use easily with Halfords roof bars and the short ones are too short to get proper thread engagement. 24 September 2012

As long as you have standard roof bars on your vehicle (such as Thule or Halfords bars) then this roof mounted cycle carrier should be fully compatible. If you do not have roof bars on your car then you will need to purchase these seperately - Halfords have a great range of roof bars available both in store and online.

You can leave this on the roof withaout a bike.

I drive miles without a bike on the roof.

Yes the Exodus Roof Mount Cycle Carrier can be left on the vehicle without cycles as long as the arms either side are clamped to the bars for example with strapping or a bungee cord.
