Will only buy at halfords I use my sat nav everyday for work, I normally Put up around 200000kms a year, so my sat Nav is my most important tool in my vehicle. I normally buy a new one every year, instead of Updating new maps. I only use garmin, nothing else. This year I bought the garmin 40. No issues until I Was in Scotland this week & it just crashed. When I returned it to HalfordsI in Limerick city They were great. Not only did they replace it no Questions asked. The staff assured me if it Ever happened again to call them, they would Let me know where their nearest store was, I could have popped in & got a new one straight away. That's some service. Thanks again to the staff at Halfords in Limerick city. I will buy nowhere else. Liam 10 September 2012

Excellent bit of kit The Garmin Nuvi 50 does all that I want it to. Clear picture - good instructions by voice. ( Some pronounciation issues of certain place names!) - all in all a first class product. 10 August 2012
Sounded Good but Sounded bad No complaints about the graphics but the spoken street names are sometimes difficult to understand and i need to glance at the screen to confirm what has just been said. Computerised speech I suppose ? - not as clear as my defunct Road Angel. The deal sounded good but the sound sounded poor. and one other prob. 1st time I used it to go to Preston last weekend -would not recognise the post code but my daughters Tom Tom did ? 18 July 2012

New guidelines mean that sat-navs in France cannot have a database of speed cameras on them; is this camera pre-loaded with Danger-zones rather than speed cameras as per French law?

With regards to the safety camera feature on Garmin devices you can disable the safety camera feature by disabling this within the proximity alerts on the device. In addition to disabling the alerts we have released a software update to maintain compliance with French law, please see below.

How to update your device to resolve the French Law with Safety cameras:

If you have previously downloaded a Cyclops Safety Camera subscription, onetime download, or free trial that covers France to your Garmin device, you can maintain compliance with French law by following the steps below:

Update your Garmin device's operating software using myDashboard
Download the updated Cyclops database, which now covers Dangerous Zones in France, rather than specific safety camera locations
If you are unable to update your device using myDashboard as directed above, you may also update it using the free WebUpdater application. If you update your device using WebUpdater, you must select the option to check for additional updates. On the list of additional updates, you will need to download and install any updates that mention translation files and proximity alerts.

The following subscriptions will include coverage of Dangerous Zones within France and will be compliant with French law, provided that the above updates have already been implemented on the compatible device being used:

Cyclops Dangerous Zones – France
Cyclops Dangerous Zones – France and BeNeLux
Cyclops Safety Cameras – Europe
To disable the safety camera feature on your device:

To enable or disable the safety camera alerts on most nuvi and zumo models, please follow these steps:

The Garmin Safety Cameras should be displayed on your device in this location, allowing you to disable or enable the alerts.
