Carrera Centos Limited Edition Mountain Bike 2012 -18"

The Carrera Centos Limited Edition 18" Mountain Bike is designed to feel at home whether you are off-roading or out in the urban jungles. Designed with a strong yet lightweight 6061 alloy frame with Shimano 24-speed gearing, a Suntour XCM-DS26 120mm travel fork, Tektro Novela mechanical disc brakes and lightweight double wall alloy rims.

Frame & Forks: Carrera Centos

Weighing only 15.7kg with a lightweight and strong 7005 alloy frame with box chainstays as well as additional gusseting in key areas that provide a stiff yet responsive ride. Front dampening duties are taken care of by the Suntour XCM-DS26 120mm suspension fork, that allows the bike to maintain traction over rougher terrain.

Transmission: Carrera Centos

A Suntour XCT Triple chainset and a Shimano 24 speed drivetrain, including an Acera 8 Speed rear derailleur, as well as Altus EZ fire trigger shifters allowing for reliable and quick shifting.

Brakes, Tyres & Wheels: Carrera Centos

Powerful and controllable braking is offered due to the Tektro Novela mechanical disc brakes with 160mm rotors, whilst the strong double walled rims with Quick release wheels couple with CST 26.2.35 Tyres offer plenty of grip in all varieties of conditions

Finishing Kit: Carrera Centos

The Carrera Finishing kit incorporates a 75mm stem as well as a 670mm wide riser handlebar, 350mm seatpost, and a comfortable foam saddle with integrated headset.

What a great MTB Bought this bike after Christmas and it has been excellent so far. Looks really good and is sturdy. The seat is not the most comfortable but I am sure it won't take long to get used to it. The bike build by Halfords was excellent also. I purchased Cat Eye lights which fit a treat on this bike but with another supplier as they were cheaper. I do have a feeling that the paint will chip easily thought if the pedals are anything to go by, and you would think they would be pretty hard wearing. 08 January 2013
3rd mountain bike I've bought as an adult and the best by far I only bought a bike to get to work and back so the wife can use the car for the kids,and as I'm a soldier, Its easier for me to get around camp too but I find myself always wanting to get out on it what ever the reason,even if its to goto the shop which is about 3miles there and 3 back,as the crow flies. This bike is lightweight and very sturdy....at the moment it appears to be squaddie proof and we all know if some says it can't be broken...give it to a soldier! Well worth the money for what u get if ur willing to spend the extra....it's fantastic,glad I paid a little bit more. 05 January 2013

Best bike i've owned so far! This is the best bike I have owned to date! I previously had (And still have got) an Apollo Phaze 20" which I had a few problems with every now and then (Mainly gears, and the rear ball bearings) But this bike feels a lot solid then the phaze! In the specification of the product, it says that it weighs 15.7Kg which is the same stated spec of the Apollo phaze, However when I compared both bike by lifting them both, you could notice a lot of difference as the phaze felt quite a bit heavier than the centos! Also, In my opinion, the Centos looks really good as the matt blue is darker than it looks in the pictures and the texture of the matt paint feels smooth. An 8 Speed Gear system (24 Gears in total) makes the bike really fast! When I first bought the Phaze I thought that was quick, but this brings it to a new level.. I like to have it in a higher gear and pedal because it just pulls and pulls! Overall, The Carrera Centos is a fantastic bike and it is newer than the Vengance and the blue version is more rarer than the red Centos. And in case you were wondering, the blue centos and the red centos are not actually identical: The frames are different, the gears are different, possibly the tyres as well! If you are thinking about buying a new bike within this price range, LOOK NO FURTHER! Yes, the Carrera Vulcan does have Hydraulic brakes and is only £30 more, BUT, The reviews of the Vulcan shows that there are reliability issues and from my experiance of the Phaze, it isn't something you want to be taking into the store every 3 months! (I cycle around 6 Miles nearly everyday) This is a limited edition bike so buy one ASAP! 10 December 2012

Nothing better for your money This is a solid all round good bike. The frame is light, but appears very strong. I am a rugby playing prop forward and so not small, but this bike deals with this, and allows me to enjoy the lake district hills. Great bike 06 November 2012
