A stylish convertible has won acclaim for its appeal to female motorists.

The Audi A3 Cabriolet has been named Car of the Year by a magazine aimed at female motorists.

Eve Cars said that the car looks good without being either "too flashy or feminine" and it had other features that women drivers would appreciate.

The online magazine's editor Alex Jenner-Fust said: "It's easy enough to get a child seat in the back and the soft-top roof leaves more boot space than a folding hard top.

"Drivers will be rewarded with almost 40 mpg too."

Recent research shows that women influence a substantial majority of car purchases in the UK - around a similar figure to the 80 per cent that influence what family cars are bought in the US.
