Hollyoaks actor Ricky Whittle, who plays character Calvin Valentine, has spoken about a romantic gesture he made to his girlfriend with the aid of a satnav.

Ricky, who is 26, is dating fellow Hollyoaks star Carley Stenson - who plays Steph Dean - in real life.

He told Now magazine that the "most romantic" thing he has even done was to give Carly a box and told her she could not open it until he said she could.

Inside the box was a mobile phone, to which he texted a riddle that she had to solve and sent her on a treasure hunt around places special to them as a couple.

He continued: "The last clue sent her to her mum's, who gave her an overnight bag and sent her back to mine - where there was a satnav waiting with directions to follow."

The satnav was pre-programmed with his location, where he was "waiting to whisk her down to London, see a show and stay in a five star hotel".

Perhaps TomTom and Garmin satnavs have never been seen as romantic presents before - but Halfords has a feeling this could change.
