Tour de France (5-27 July)
Le Tour de France is arguably the world's best known cycling competition. Running over 22 days in July, this year the epic event begins in Yorkshire. Stage 1 starts in Leeds, travelling through the stunning Yorkshire countryside before finishing in Harrogate. Stage 2 starts in York, finishing in Sheffield, and Stage 3 starts in Cambridge and travels through to London, before hopping across the channel to France. Having three stages in the UK is a huge opportunity to view the world's top riders in this gruelling 3,656 kilometre event.
Commonwealth Games (23rd July - 3rd August)
This year, Glasgow plays host to eleven days of sport, sweat, and celebration. The 2014 Commonwealth Games sees 70 teams from across the Commonwealth compete for sporting glory in the third largest multi-sport event in the world.
La Vuelta (23rd August - 14th September)
The final event of cycling’s Grand Tours, La Vuelta a Espaņa is a demanding race that takes in 3,181.5km of Spain’s breathtaking landscapes. For three weeks in August and September, La Vuelta pushes top cyclists to their limits and beyond.
Tour of Britain (7th - 14th September)
This top summer of cycling and sport comes to an end close to home with the Tour of Britain. The UK’s biggest professional cycling race, the Tour of Britain is eight days of sweat, tears, and triumph from Liverpool to London.
With the Tour de France kicking off in Yorkshire, the Women's Tour of Britain, National Bike Week, Grande Depart, and Giro d'Italia, the summer of cycling is underway here in Britain.
