Pendleton Somerby Electric Hybrid Bike - 17”, 19” FramesAll the style of the Pendleton Somerby with added, electrically powered, pedal assistance. The 317Wh battery delivers 40 - 50 miles of range through a rear hub motor with speed sensor. This extra power is enough to guarantee effortless rides, taking the strain out of hills and making moving off from a standstill much easier. With a low step-through frame, getting onto the bike is much less awkward too. The 8-speed Shimano gears will ensure you glide along smoothly, and built in mudguards and chainguard will protect your clothes should you hit any puddles. Tektro alloy V-brakes will bring you to a steady halt at the end of every stylish ride
MotorThe Pendleton Somerby E is fitted with a rear hub Bafang electric motor system, seemlessly integrated into the rear wheel. The system is equipped with a Speed sensor, which automatically engages the motor once you begin pedalling to provide power assistance to your ride. As required by law, the motor will automatically stop assisting you once you achieve a speed of 15.5mph.
BatteryThe Somerby features a Li-Ion Phylion battery mounted into the rear luggage rack. With a capacity of 317Wh / 8.8Ah and a range of up to 50miles per charge the Somerby is very capable of going the distance on any leisure ride. As standard on all Pendleton E-bikes, the Somerby E comes with an integrated smart control system that protects the battery from overheating, short circuiting or overcharging. The battery re-charges in only 5 hours, and comes with a full 2-year / 500 charge warranty.
Note; The total travel distance will depend on the capacity of the battery, rider and luggage weight, power mode setting and riding style.
Head-UnitThe electric motor of the Pendleton Somerby E is controled via a 3-function LED display –offering Low, Medium or High levels of power-assist. The display / control unit includes an integrated push button to switch between the 3 assistance levels, alongside the power On/Off button. The display is located on the left side of the handlebar and its compact size reduces the risk of damage when in use.

Pendleton Somerby Electric Bike - Midnight Blue - 17", 19" Frames is rated out of 5 by 9.Rated 1 out of 5 by Cornishcornflower from Beware, it does not go up hills easily It looks a dream and glides along the flat beautifully but does not go steep hills with ease. When trying out the bike do try out an incline! I am very disappointed in this bike. Buyer beware!Date published: 2018-05-31Rated 4 out of 5 by dashingdebs from Whizz up hills! This is a beautiful bike that turns heads! The electric motor makes short work of hills but you'll need to experiment with gear speed to get optimum performance from the motor. I am 5'4" and purchased the 17" frame - it is a little big; it's a bit of a stretch from saddle to handle bars. The handle bar grips are enormous and I have had to fiddle around with the angle of the handlebars to try to prevent wrist pain. I also had to alter the angle of the brake levers in relation to the handlebar grips because my hands are small and they are designed for big hands. My main issue with this bike is the lack of assembly instructions - or just instructions that actually relate to this bike! The manual's front cover says Pendleton etc. but inside, the instructions cover bikes of all kinds. I am not an expert so it mostly meant nothing to me. I had to find a daddy of daughters to help me assemble the bike and quiz various cyclist friends to discover which kind of gears it had and how they should be changed [keep pedalling!].Date published: 2018-05-16Rated 4 out of 5 by Peteperfik from Really good bike Bought this bike for her indoors, went OK for a few rides out then electrics packed up got a replacement and so far all good, get decent amount of milage off a charge,Date published: 2018-05-06Rated 5 out of 5 by Davemart1n from Great E Bike Bought 2 of these at the Easter sale got to say they are as good as the far more expensive ones that I looked atDate published: 2018-05-02Rated 5 out of 5 by Owen60 from New brialliant experience Top marks for service and price. The bike is a brilliant edition to my daily work. Would not hesitate to recommend it.Date published: 2018-04-27Rated 4 out of 5 by Hector59 from Value for money Very pleased with my new bike. Cycling is now a pleasure again. Hills are climbed with ease. Comfortable cycling position and electric modes are soon easily understood. Walk facility is great on very steep hills. Nice looking bike. Fantastic value for money. Battery charged easily and in Mode 3 the bike whizzes along at a fair rate.Date published: 2018-04-24Rated 3 out of 5 by Teenoso from Shame about the Paintwork We chose this partly for the name & partly the price. My wife loves it but after a couple of rides, 25 miles or so, we were shocked to discover lots of chips & scrapes on the mudguards & frame. And she never went off-road with it, only on tarmac. Have to conclude the paintwork on this midnight blue colour was not up to scratch (pardon the pun) . Nevertheless, a good bike, brilliant service from Halfords Cramlington.Date published: 2018-04-20Rated 5 out of 5 by HappyCamper59 from Good value Excellent build and finish. Good value at 20% and then a further 10% discount . Price paid £540. Proper bell ! No easy way of locking battery (built in lock easy to force). No bracket for rear light. Solid kick stand. Young lad who sold bike advised us to not charge overnight in case battery exploded and that a spare was £450. Actually £225 on Halfords own site. Quick release saddle height missing and replaced by bolt. Overall much better value than models from dedicated bike shops.Date published: 2018-04-16
