Rated 1 out of 5 by from lost ability to navigate in cities Started of full of praise for this piece of kit Did bring me down some ploughed up fields which was a pathway in summer so had to set to fixed rd only. But now i cant navigate via streets or postcode. Closest i can get to is a city which is no good if you live somewhere like london. Its just lost that function and when you do a search cor nearby facilities eg train stations etc nothing shows up. Need to buy something else

Rated 1 out of 5 by from failure A week after I bought it I got a message stating I needed to upgrade the software, please connect to your computer. I did that the got a message stating the memory card wasn't large enough, so I bought a new memory card and started again. All ok then got a message stating it will take 10 hours to upgrade, so I left it going, 2 hours later I heard a beep, looked at my pc thinking its finished early but I got a message stating Garmin had lost connection to the device, please plug back in and start again. I shan't buy Garmin again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Off road works off road as well as on road, yes id advise updating first takes around 3 hours. bought this back in august. i use it with 8 data fields showing the pic on site shows it with 5, i use Time, speed, distance, time of day, calories, heading i.e NE, accuracy, elevation. it goes up to 10 with lap time lap distance. when i did my update i swapped out the 8G card for a 16G so it holds mores recorded rides. Just turn on hit the pause play button and it records your ride. i have it synced to map my ride and strava. so my phone stays a phone now and battery lasts, this map is specifically for cycles, not motorbikes, it re routes even if you have gone off road, Battery lasts for around week if you use every day approx 30 mile rides. i was out all day around 7hrs MTB off road the Viking trail Margates, due to pub visits, it lasted with nav on and got back with 35% Has auto back light so i like this on my night rides, The main screen you can switch between map/compass/of data fields with swiping the screen, navigation shows the way you are heading so turns the map to where your heading, i.e i was heading south and it looked like it was sending me north when i set my coordinates, also when you set coordinates it gives you 3 options with most to least elevation also in the box it has a bar mount so i use out front on my road bike and headset mount on my MTB

Rated 4 out of 5 by from garmin edge touring Great value for money, ideal for anyone who wants something similar to a car sat have. Battery has a very good life and Halfords price was the cheapest. Only negatives are that the keypad is very fiddly meaning you hit the wrong letters alot and be careful not to accept too many map updates as they usually take longer than 3 hours. Best to try the keypad in Halfords before you buy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun to use. I just wanted a device to tell me how fast I was going and how far I'd been. The route planning was something new to me.Yes it's great to see where you are as it names the road you are riding on. The round route planner is slightly different. It does have a tendency to use all cycle paths even if it's a pavement. Great fun when you get lost and try to get back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Garmin Edge Great product , fantastic service from our local store. The only missing feature I'd like to see is a lanyard on the Garmin to preven it coming away from the bike

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic bit of kit I'm a returning to cycling to shed a few pounds and get fit rather than race and I prefer to go on long (50miles+) rides on my own. I do like to push myself a bit so being able to see my speed when I'm out is a good incentive to keep the intensity up. I tried using my iPhone with a few apps but once it's in a handlebar mounted case it's hard to see in sunlight and the battery only lasted an hour or so with full brightness and using the sat nav app. So I wanted a speedo and stat machine and sat nav as I like to vary my routes a bit if I get a whole day to myself. Edge Touring fits the bill brilliantly. The screen is actually better in bright sunlight than in the shade. It's smaller than iPhone 4 but it doesn't matter, everything is very visible. You can't edit the layout of the screen only add more items, calories burnt, distance, compass, etc. This is ok but if you want something more flexible I think you'll have to go to the top of the range. So you set up your stats screen which is one of 3 available, the others being the sat nav and an elevation screen. My one niggle with Garmin and the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is their operating system and this extends to their car sat navs too. Editing seems like an endless trawl through menus to find a specific thing and then a trawl back to the homepage to start again and so on. Not like an iPhone which seems so easy in comparison. Same with the sat nav. It doesn't search as easily as Apple maps and can be frustrating to find a destination quickly. And the gps only works outside so you can't sit at home and enter a destination. When you do though it's brilliant at alerting you to turns with high pitched beeps even a 48 year old musician whose ears have taken a battering over the years can hear. Plugged into the computer all the stats come up and are easy to navigate. Obviously no heart rate or cadence but that's not what I wanted. Average speed and elevation, calories, time out and time actually ridden. And a map of your route with is great. Really nice layout. So I'm very happy with it overall and the price is pretty good. It's very light, charges on USB, battery life is good, handlebar mount is solid and it clips off easily. Perfect for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Garmin Edge Touring Special Edition GPS Cycle Worked well from the box following a charge. But the unit did not hold the charge as far as I was concerned needed re-charging after two days no use (Switched off in the garage . Howevernit worked well when used and gave the good info following ride. Need a little practice to figure out all user facilities but generally think it's a good unit.
