Halfords Brake Caliper Paint Yellow 250ml is rated out of 5 by 11.Rated 1 out of 5 by GSXRJONER from Only reason I gave it 1 star is because I couldn't give it -stars Absolutely useless, after having my calipers shot blasted to remove all rust so they'd be nice and easy to paint I bought this rubbish and now they look worse than they did before, product is way to thin to get any decent coverage and requires several coats, I'm up to 5 coats and can still soo the edges aren't covered. If you're thinking about smartening up your calipers or drums with this paint then DON'TDate published: 2018-04-07Rated 4 out of 5 by Benzz from Ignore the other reviews! Not sure why everyone seems to think this is a 'professional grade' product, if you want it doing properly you take off your calipers and spray them. Regardless of that though, this caliper paint is great if you know how to use it, it's not like painting your walls!! Use a fine brush, very light coat for your first coat, light enough that it's only just on the caliper not fully covered, by the time you've done the front driver caliper (one side jacked up) you move onto the rear, as long as it's warm out you should be able to go back to the front for it's second coat, it should be tacky to touch but enough so t won't smear whilst applying the second coat. I've used blue, red and this yellow on 6 cars in 2 days and each one was ready to drive away 4 hours after painting them all, no drips and they have been fine and look professional for the last 14 months. I'm buying more as I am changing the colour of mine from red to yellow, excellent product just take your time, patience is key!Date published: 2017-06-03Rated 5 out of 5 by CaptainCritter from Recommended for professional use. I achieved flawless results and a deep colour, but then I served an apprenticeship as a coachbuilder and have 40 years experience of restoration works. Do good prep. Mask off the pipes. And then paint it thin thin thin. Barely thick enough for the brush marks to level out. Do all the edges first then the flatter areas last. Do not go back over your work or you will make string (cobwebbing). Keep the brush soft by filling it each dip and then wiping the excess off. If you only dip the tip then it will harden and you will end up spreading paint with a scraper! Apply coats an hour apart, 5 or six coats. Get all your edges perfect on the first couple of coats or you will drag dirt into your topcoats. Keep some thinners handy to keep your brush flowing. I took my wheels off at 10am and put them back with vinyl logo applied 7 hours later at 5pm. If you can't paint properly don't attempt this job.Date published: 2017-03-14Rated 1 out of 5 by Jceantnsa from Nice colour but that is all. Followed the instructions exactly and still ended up with cheese string drums and calipers. To make matters worse, it's gone everywhere, inside on my alloys and all over my brakes. Really angry because I don't have the time or money to put it right and the car was due to attend a car show on stand. Not happy at all. Do not buy. I wish I had read the reviews before buying it. The colour is nice but it is clearly not heat proof. The instructions are wrong or the paint is of very poor quality.Date published: 2016-08-23Rated 1 out of 5 by Forchy78 from Not worth any stars The worst product on the market!! Even after a few coats the edges still show thats if even after 72 hours the paint is still on there. Its ran everywhere it looks like cheese strings on the brake drums. Avoid at all cost as its only good as a paper weightDate published: 2016-08-23Rated 2 out of 5 by guyzza75 from yellow caliper paint In bought this paint to make my car look better.. I cleane d the caliper with brake cleaner and wire brush and plodded on... I opened the Tin and immediately realised this paint is so thin and watery.. After 3 coats the paint was still forming into drips and wouldn't cover the metal. I spent 4 to 5 hrs trying to get it looking half decent!! Don't buy!!!!!!!!!Date published: 2015-07-19Rated 3 out of 5 by Nikelad86 from D Wilson Bought this paint and thought was a bit pricy but wasn't too fussed any how got home and started the job it stated 24 hrs to dry so I left it for 30hrs to be safe however I drove to Liverpool 70 miles from where I lived when I got there the paint obviously needs long to dry my alloys were yellow with paint and so was the sides of my car lucky enough I had left it that extra bit longer as instead of it splattering mine and others car it was just tacky so easy came off if you was to but I'd recommend leaving 48 hrs drying time bar this error in there time wise the product is actually really good few coats and it looks amazing but the timing on the tin is incorrect many thanksDate published: 2014-06-07Rated 1 out of 5 by madmike99 from Wish I had seen these poor reviews first! I didn't think it was possible to buy such a useless product! I grit blasted the calipers to bare metal first, and after 5 coats of this rubbish paint, the edges of metal still show through. There is not enough pigment in this paint, and it is far too runny! You can only apply thin coats each time, or it just drips and sags, and when you recoat within the hour, ( as the instructions suggest) you tend to 'drag' the previous coat you applied.Date published: 2013-10-05
