Tyres with strong wet weather grip have shorter braking distances on slippery roads and have a higher aquaplaning resistance. The best performing tyre is A, while G has the least wet grip capacity. The difference in wet braking distance between a car fitted with A or G class tyres is over 10 metres.

Tyres with a high fuel efficiency rating help lower driving costs and CO2 emissions. Category A is the most efficient and has the lowest rolling resistance, which means less energy is lost and fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are reduced. Category G is the least efficient of the seven categories.
