Carrera Crossfire 2 Mens Hybrid Bike - Black - 17", 19", 21" Frames is rated out of 5 by 88.Rated 2 out of 5 by Ritchief from Carrera crossfire 2 Got the bike in August time ,so much for checking the bike over before they sell you it ,the front wheel was loose and the gears had not been set up properly. If you buy this bike make sure buy a new seat and a new set of tyres. I've had about 9 punctures.Date published: 2018-05-16Rated 3 out of 5 by Emc425 from Unpredictable I have had the bike 3 months to do training on. Firstly the gears don't work properly, if I change them sometimes it's immediate other times after 5 minuets all of a sudden there's a clunk and it changes. This is not good for going up hill on serval occasions I have had to get off and walk because the gears refused to change. I have ripped my sportswear several times and two occasions cut myself due to the sharpness of the metal peddles when I rub my fingers over them they are sharp to touch. Even more annoyingly both time I cut myself were due to slipping off the peddles when the gear changes took me by surprise. The break cables have stretched so much that the breaks need to be pulled nearly all the way back before they work Bike has been kept in shed by is a rust magnet. I have never had to oil a bit so muchDate published: 2018-05-14Rated 4 out of 5 by IanCF from Good Hybrid I’ve had my bike for almost a month now & use it for commuting to work. The bike is a good quality build & surprisingly light. The store went through everything with me & were really well informed. I love the bike, but there is one issue I have with it. The gear changes often don’t happen. This is especially noticeable when changing up. On one trip home, I had to get out of the seat to pedal up a hill when suddenly it changed down a gear without me touching the change levers. If they could sort out the changes, this would get a five out of five.Date published: 2018-05-08Rated 4 out of 5 by user100000 from great purchase Commute and cycle daily. This bike is leagues ahead of the junk i used to struggle along with. Perfect for daily use and also makes me go out on it more often beyond that too! Love the brakes and suspension. Pity that I can top out with the gears though..Date published: 2018-04-25Rated 2 out of 5 by BikeCommuter83 from Don't be taken in - this bike bites back! At first this seemed a great buy - good value, smart look, smooth changes, great braking. But then things started to go wrong: brake cable adjuster cracked, losing all tension. Shock tubes seized up. Steering column stiffened. Gear cables lost tension then the rear shift stopped completely (another breakage between cable and shifter housing, just like the brakes). Outer tyres cracking up. All this in just the first two years, riding no more than 20miles a week on a commute. Having already fixed what I can myself and forked out on servicing, I'm now looking at another £150 to get it roadworthy again: new chain, new steering set, new rear gear set, all four cables replacing. So not such good value after all. I'd steer well clear.Date published: 2018-04-23Rated 4 out of 5 by Ian4770 from . Must admit I should have bought the 21 inch instead of the 19inch frame as the seat is not far enough back and riding it is a little cramped. Overall a nice bike for the price I always buy Carrera bikes as they are the best value.Date published: 2018-04-20Rated 3 out of 5 by Trek68 from Bike and build I picked up my son’s new bike yesterday, and he is pleased with it, and to be fair it seems like a good bike. However, the build and service leaves a lot to be desired. Build - rear reflector not centred, seat not centred until noticed by another member of staff and the bell located so near the centre of the handle bar that it couldn’t be rung without taking your hand from the bar – does the bike assembler not ride a bike? In the grand scheme of things these are minor, but what confidence does it give that the more serious aspects like brakes, suspension and gears have been set up properly? We ordered puncture resistant slime but it’s not mentioned on the job sheet, nor did the staff member confirm it had been put in, so what evidence do I have that my £12 has been well spent? The frame is scratched and whilst I didn’t spot that in the shop, I’m pretty certain given where the scratches are they didn’t happen on the short ride home. So to the service, the job sheet says (amongst other things), that we have been shown how to remove the front wheel and the suspension is set to the PSI for his style of riding. We weren’t shown how to, or asked if we’d need any help, nor was there any discussion about riding style. It also says that I’ve been told about the free six week check, I wasn’t! The member of staff asked me if I knew about their servicing package “because brakes and gears need constant adjustment...” and only confirmed the free check when I asked about it. He was only focused on selling me the service package. Thankfully as an experienced cyclist, I know how to complete the basic maintenance tasks etc, but the Halfords team don’t know that, nor were they bothered about asking outside the context of upselling. I don’t buy my bikes from Halfords and as this is the last bike my son will need, as a child, it will be the last bike I buy from them.Date published: 2018-04-15Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Great Bike, for me. I am an OAP so I didn't want something that would climb high mountains. All I needed was a lightweight bike that is good on the road and good on a few bumpy pathway's. Its perfect for this and the gears make the riding experience not to difficult on my old legs.Date published: 2018-04-15
